A colleague of mine, a generation younger than me, asked me if her dad was right that it was unprofessional to put stickers on a company-issued laptop. I told her that he was right, and that pretty much everybody in the company did it anyway.

Smart. That reminds me of the transit cards that worked with taxis in China. (I’m sure that was a not-only-China thing.) We were advised to put a sticker on our cards so that the cabbies wouldn’t swap them with cards that had no money on them.
That was a long time ago. Please don’t ask me how long ago that was.
