Valve isn’t talking about Steam Deck 2 because the right chip doesn’t exist.

IGN’s Wesley Yin-Poole has an excellent interview with Valve’s Pierre-Loup Griffais and Yazan Aldehayyat, including one reason why they have no news about Steam Deck 2. It’s because yet again, the promised “generational leap” in performance is not yet possible. They haven’t found the right chip.

Griffais says:

“We’re not interested in getting to a point where it’s 20 or 30 or even 50% more performance at the same battery life. We want something a little bit more demarcated than that.”

Creepy no. 22 (0000)

That main title has me singing “All The Young Ghouls” to the tune of “All The Young Dudes”.

Can computers kill? Think how crazy a concept that was in 1964, huh. Nowadays computers convince people to commit suicide on a daily basis and we just shrug.

someone I assigned work to messages me and says all the unit tests for a project are failing. I ask for the logs. Logs show a 93% pass rate (within acceptable range) but he says there's a 0% pass rate. I ask how he got that number and he says he asked Amazon Q for a summary and it said everything failed.

I am so fucking tired of AI bullshit.

in reply to EngiQueering

I had a similar problem today but fortunately mine was not AI assisted but good old fashioned confusion exacerbated by some pretty bad UX. It centered on "failing build" (i.e. one of those lines you see in Jenkins/github) versus "failing test" (one of the individual tests in junit/rspec/etc).
