One of the "election truth" conspiracy theorists recently told me he likes my photos because, unlike my comments on elections, at least they're honest.

I may not have gotten anything past him with my election mendacity, but my photos definitely have him fooled. They're incorrigible liars, or at least the good ones are. Just ask my old friend Pablo Picasso.

Why would anyone buy an Amazon Basics fountain pen when the Platinum Preppy is cheaper? Like, $7 vs $15 and better build quality. I bought an Amazon one a while back before they were ridiculously priced and it instantly fell apart on me so I'm waiting on a Preppy instead.

Althia Raj: Mark Carney is quietly giving sweeping new powers to his ministers

"Hidden in the federal government’s 634-page omnibus bill C-15, the Budget Implementation Act, is a measure that has so far escaped scrutiny. Under the pretext of regulatory efficiency, Prime Minister Mark Carney plans to grant cabinet ministers the power to exempt any individual or company from any federal law on the books — except for the Criminal Code — for up to six years."

What can I say? Libs gonna Lib.

No, not really. Giving legal exemptions to businesses is solidly in the right wing, keep the rich getting richer, play book. Canada has no liberal party, we don't even have a left leaning one at this point with the NDP backing some very anti-citizen policy.
in reply to Nik282000

I mean capital "L" Liberals are still pro-capitalism so they are still pro-corporations. Their policies are what contributed to the cost of living and housing crises across the world today. By all intents and purposes, the Liberal Party is right wing.

I didn't know about that. It seems to be the problem with many leftist parties is catering too much to the right.

Well we don't have a respectable conservative party in this country that could push back, especially since this is exactly what they would have proposed.

But a few questions:

What provisions would likely be in danger of override?

Is there any regulatory efficiency measures that would be acceptable?

What would proper oversight look like?

Maduro Shocks Trump With Direct NATO Access After Russia, China Backing For Venezuela? Big Reveal byteseu.com/1606014/ #Erdoğan #maduro #NATO #Russia #trump #Turkey #Venezuela

i know everyone stopped thinking of the live action cowboy bebop ages ago but i finally was able to articulate what they got wrong. the big theme of the original Cowboy Bebop was the inherent dignity of caring deeply for something even if it isn't "important" and at every turn the live action series instead presented characters as pathetic for their trivial pursuits. all other complaints, the dialogue, the costumes, the pacing, are window dressing in comparison

3 good things for today:

- watched “Elf” w/my partner

- had a good exercise lesson. I appreciate that our instructor is a really nice person who has become a good friend

- lots of snuggles from Henry today 🐈

Bonus from yesterday:

- in self-defense class, we learned how to get up if we’re on the floor & backed against a wall. And my “shrimps” (which I really struggled with at first) are really improving!
