There was a recent thread by @HeavenlyPossum that went into why the economy is now dominated by scams. Of the various reasons, there was one I didn't see (I might have missed it) and it's that in order to keep people immiserated (and therefore willing to work) under conditions of high productivity, billionaires have acquired so much wealth that they pretty much have nothing to spend it on. There is no actual "good investment" left that would not de-immiserate people.

I would characterize that as part of the “declining rates of profit” thesis.

There’s less and less economic production and exchange that they, or somebody else, doesn’t already own.

So they’re increasingly turning to direct extraction.

I think it's a bit different, because higher productivity means that there is more value to steal, and more *has* to be stolen to keep people poor. So when wealthy elites successfully do so, they get even more hyper-wealthy than when productivity was lower.

Soft Earth Tone Nautilus Shell Art

Rich earth tones and visual texture in a simple nautilus shell by beach artist Sharon Cummings. A modern and contemporary painting that would also look amazing in a traditional space. Great beachy and natural furnishings and accents. Very delicately off white with hints of the softest peach. GET IT HERE!

To say they have no respect for the Law is an understatement. These people are criminals intent on crime.
