Aldik Home Christmas Displays 2025 13, Van Nuys, California
Aldik Home (aldikhome.com/) always puts on a grand display for Christmas, and each year we make a point to visit, take some photographs, and pick up a new ornament or two. A great Christmas tradition for us and close to home, too.

Lets build an open alternative, and then compensate musicians directly (rather than all the middlemen and lawyers)
I wonder how the @internetarchive could help.
as promised we have released a new version of #flohmarkt ten minutes ago. We're 50 minutes early :)
It's 0.14.0
I think it's our biggest release since 0.2.0 and we thank @nlnet and @NGIZero for making this possible.
As spoilered, the most important changes are Support for multiple authentication backends (username/password, ldap, fediauth) and an overhaul of the geographic concept behind flohmarkt.
Get it at codeberg.org/flohmarkt/flohmar… .
I've been working on some explainers about Classical Chinese... nothing ready for public consumption, but I am SUPER pleased with the CSS I whipped up for note callouts (these are using a stickynote clipart from irasutoya)
CSS selectors can do a lot of stuff these days that they couldn't when I first learned 20 years ago...

How to handle this boulder? - All For Gardening
There used to be a very ugly slate patio where this boulder is now exposed. I removed the patio and uncovered this massive boulder slightly raised against theGardener (All For Gardening)
I hope this proves something more than just theatrics to attract VC investors so the creators can enjoy an instant payday for their discovery (only to later sell-out to the highest bidder for yet another payday).

Did you see this cautionary tale and my thoughts about it here?
Time to cut that Apple cord before it cuts you!
20 Years of Digital Life, Gone in an Instant, thanks to Apple
Summary: A major brick-and-mortar store sold an Apple Gift Card that Apple seemingly took offence to, and locked out my entire Apple ID, effectively bricking my devices and my iCloud Account, Apple Developer ID, and everything associated with it, and…Dr Paris Buttfield-Addison (hey.paris)
That’s truly scary - but as the piece says Apple fans have a lot invested in the culture.
Cutting the cord is neither cheap or easy.
But I do take your warning seriously. I also suspect that if one has invested in any paid service there is a similar risk. One of the reasons that anything private is not in the cloud & there are local copies of photos etc.
I wonder if this could not be argued to be a breech of contract by Apple - I once had the mother & father of rows with the manager of our local Apple Store over the repairs done to the predecessor of my MBP. The upshot was a brand new, fully specced MBP for free. It took 3 months & multiple visits & calls to support to achieve this but perseverance paid off.
I’m not a legal expert nor a consumer rights expert but sometimes it a course worth exploring.

in reply to Douglas E. Welch • • •A close-up photograph depicts a densely decorated Christmas tree. The tree is covered in ornaments of various colors and sizes, including red, green, and gold, and is also adorned with ribbons and lights. A prominent feature of the image is a standing nutcracker figure in the center, wearing a red jacket, black boots, and a tall hat. Several price tags are visible throughout the tree branches, attached to various ornaments. The overall impression is one of a lavish and colorful holiday display.
Several price tags are visible with text including “$19.99” and other unreadable details.
