A late morning walk at high tide today along Seaburn Promenade, Sunderland in NE England. Could have done with my sunglasses heading into brilliant sunshine, the sun really low in the sky. Today, where I live, the sun will set at its most southerly point of 228° and will continue to do so until 30 December, when it begins to set a little further north with each passing day. Apparently you can set the $HOSTALIASES environment variable in FreeBSD (and maybe some Linuxen? but not OpenBSD AFAICT) to point to an alternate hosts file (instead of the default /etc/hosts) for re-mapping particular hosts. This would let you do something like
$ HOSTALIASES=$HOME/hosts.txt myprog
and any name-resolution that myprog(1) does will first consult the ~/hosts.txt file.

Organizing #homeassistant - iPhone app (for notifications) - changed all door opener batteries to rechargeable ones - set an automation to notify me if freezer door is open for more than 10min - when I open Murphy bed, turn off lights. When I close it, turn on lights. Hm maybe it should also open window panels.
I already have one that when I open projector screen, it turns off lights and turns on projector.
