Starmer said: "I always say and believe we should uphold international law.
"But I think at this stage [in a] fast moving situation, let's establish the facts and take it from there.
"I want to establish the facts first. I want to speak to President Trump."

Weasel words from the arch-weasel himself, the fence-sitter supreme, #Starmer
If he'd been in charge of this country during WWII Hitler would've walked through the fucking front door.

@Lazarou The worldwide weasel chorus will be in full cry all week. Invest in a good pair of earplugs, then go grab some sand, and see can you figure out where the Obersturmbannführer has left his gears exposed.

#Wordweavers Day 3 'What does the way your MC talks reveal about them?'

Tink wants people to believe she's a lot more sophisticated than she really is, especially since she works with technology. There's still a social stigma in her world with "backwater accents".

#Heizungsbau #Wärmepumpe Ich betreue eine Viessmann Vitocal 200S, die über einen Puffer Vitocell 360-M einen Fussbodenheizkreis bedient. Puffer max muss daher nicht höher als ~35°C liegen. Der Wartungstechniker hatte aber vor ca. 2 Jahren den von mir initial richtig konfigurierten Wert auf 60°C erhöht. Wie sich nun zeigt, hat dieser eine Wert ca. 1500€ unnötig an Strom gekostet. Wieviele WP-Systeme wohl laufen, die aus Bequemlichkeit bei der Konfiguration unwirtschaftlich eingestellt sind?

@morsuapri

elisp question

I just put a call to eval in my code and I feel dirty now.

The context went something like this:

(eval (cons 'concat (my-function arg1 arg2)))

I had initially hoped to use
(concat . (my-function arg1 arg2))

...but this resulted in a call to
(concat my-function arg1 arg2)

Which was not what I expected.

Is there a better way I could've written this?
#emacs #lisp #elisp

Edit: Got my answer. I wanted:

(apply 'concat (my-func arg1 arg2))

Edit 2:
It turns out the code I really wanted was:

(string-join arg2 arg1)

I love reinventing the wheel because I didn't know it was already there.

Edit 3:
Here's the actual code:

(defun lambdamoo-run-text-replacements (str)
"Perform text replacements on the string"
  (dolist (vals lambdamoo-text-replacements)
    (let* ((from (car vals))
           (to (cdr vals))
           (split (split-string str from)))
      (setq str (string-join split to))))
  str)

Let's see if there's anything else I've reinvented here.

Good Morning #Canada

Overnight news of Trump attacking another country in a blatant attempt to seize their resources should be a wakeup call for Canada. Does anyone here think a strike on Ottawa to remove the current government couldn't happen? Could the U.S. find a stooge willing to become the interim leader? How much oil, aluminum, uranium, hydropower or other resources would be looted before Trump strokes out from too many big macs. Yesterday I would have laughed at this scenario but today it starts to be less of a fantasy.

I glossed over this article when it was first published back in November but now I'm leaning towards support of developing a volunteer force in Canada. Perhaps a 2-year voluntary military service for our youth to provide employment and training. I don't want a volunteer military force to ever be used and hopefully it becomes a deterrent. But unfortunately a serious discussion is needed.

"As Gaza enters the bleakest period of winter, children are dying of hypothermia, drowning in flooded camps and burning to death as their families try to cook in flimsy tents. Israel destroyed nine out of 10 homes over more than two years of war. Camped amid the ruins, Palestinians struggle against strong winds, heavy rain and freezing temperatures."

“Israel destroyed 9 out of 10 homes” if that is not ethnic cleansing I would like to know what it is.
