Help identifying, possible pests? allforgardening.com/1573624/he… #alocasia

I've seen a lot of photos showing the massive crowds gathered in Minneapolis today, but I want to remind folk that today was actually a day of economic blackout, and the protests and other events were there to help us bond, learn, teach, and share.

But the main show was actually the complete lack of activity and spectacle around the normal center of life: the economy.

We'll never get an honest accounting of how that went down, but I know in addition to the indie stores that shut down, a LOT of folk working corporate gigs didn't go to work today.

I think this photo, showing one of the main stretches of highway into the city, during what should be rush hour, instead showing a smattering of cars, is one of the better demonstrations of that part of today.

I see so many takes like "Minnesotans out in -30f to defend their community!" and like yea we are but we also go out in whatever weather to ride giant artistic sleds in public parks just for fun, which is to say, there's community worth defending.

A small saucepan sits on a metal trivet atop a light-colored surface with faint markings. The saucepan has a brown exterior with a speckled texture, a black interior dotted with white speckles, and a reddish-brown handle. It contains a dark liquid. The metal trivet has a grid-like design and is positioned on the surface. There is no text visible in the image.

Outstanding work to read for those with open eyes

We are about to publish an article on CoffeeGeek, taking a stand against the growing fascism in the USA right now.

It will most likely cost us readership. It might cost us advertisers. It might even put a target on us.

But the time for silence is done.

Here's a preview of the full article, in jpg format.

NEW: I was one of only 3 reporters granted access to a convening of 600+ clergy in Minneapolis this week.

It was a striking show of solidarity with local clergy who have been resisting ICE, but the gathering also heralded something else: the emergence of a vast, faith-based network trained to resist ICE. religionnews.com/2026/01/23/in…

Damn... glad I did my Lebanon, Jordan, Israel, Palestine, and Egypt trip back in 2020, right before the scamdemic went full blown.

Egypt of course has incredible sites... but Lebanon was surprisingly amazing. And Jordan and Petra... can't get better than Petra.

Anyway, this is the last 10 hours or so.

@nanook I just meant the public art there... from what I heard, it was changed a lot for condos or whatever. It was just a cool two-block strip main center street strip.

I'm sure the troll is still there. Are the other three still there?
