The Israeli army Thursday morning killed six Palestinians, including five in an airstrike on a car near Tubas city in the northern occupied West Bank.

On Aug. 28, the Israeli army launched its largest military operation in the northern West Bank in two decades, causing massive destruction in the area and killing 39 Palestinians so far.

The final day of #RSECon24 is our first Community Discovery Day 🎉 This kicks off with a panel on building stronger communities in research software to discuss how we can all self organise as sub-communities within our wider community, including how the Society can help support us all with this.

The panel is followed by a day of self organised birds of a feather sessions for us all to work together on organising these sub-communities and eyeing together within them.

in reply to Society of RSE

Really enjoying the panel that's kicking off the first #RSECon24 Community Discovery Day!

Something I really recognise is that sense of "finding our people" many of us felt when we discovered RSE was a thing. 🥰

Society of RSE reshared this.

in reply to Martin O'Reilly

For me personally, RSE was "the job I always wanted but didn't know existed", but it's the nourishing community of wonderful, caring humans that really makes this different from other jobs I've had. #RSECon24

She was a beautiful ship. My family sailed to France on the SS United States when I was seven years old. Back when the State Department sent diplomats first class. An experience not to be forgotten.

That ship (SS United States) is so, so beautiful. I wonder if you appreciated that when you voyaged across the Atlantic to start at Oxford. I am amazed that in country as wealthy as the US, the money cannot be found to preserve this piece of US heritage. I felt so sad when I was a boy seeing HMS Vanguard going to be scrapped. I had had the luck to be taken round it by the captain (my father was a career naval officer and knew the captain).

K-12 educators around the U.S. who show support for Palestine have been targeted with false charges of antisemitism and have faced a clear pattern of punishment without due process based on disturbing double standards.

In a May 2024 congressional hearing, the Committee on Education and the Workforce questioned leaders of three public school districts.

Several cases of teachers teaching hate were referenced during the hearing.

in reply to Glyn Moody

given its fair share price, according to the underlying financials, are in the low single digits, it is rather surprising that shares are still that high.

A group of pro-Palestinian protestors rallied through the campus of Georgetown University in the US capital of Washington, D.C on Wednesday.

During their demonstration, which began with the new semester, the student protestors chanted "If we don’t get no justice, then they don’t get no peace" and "Free, free Palestine.”

They called for their school's divestment from Israel and an end to the Israeli attacks in Gaza.

Why do they still do tender? Surely you could look at the track record of the company and just negotiate, so that maintenance and employees are adequately catered for.
in reply to Andrew Pam

I guess so that nobody can claim they're wasting taxpayer money by not getting a good price?
