Nearly 60 percent of Israelis believe social media posts showing sympathy for civilians in the Gaza Strip should be restricted, according to a poll published by Haaretz newspaper on 5 September.
59% of Israelis “think posts expressing sympathy for civilians in Gaza should be restricted, while 41% think posts criticizing the government should be censored,” according to the poll.

The day to talk about safety was the day before the shooting. Or the day before that. Or any of the thousands of days since Columbine. Or all the way back to the tower shooting at the University of Texas in 1966.
But they haven't talked about it yet, at least not in any serious way, so today is as good as any. Better than tomorrow.
I think the conversation should be about the fact that after years of rising deaths due to mass shootings, they are still happening because state and national leaders keep blocking attempts to take any action at all, with the follow up of , "so when are you going to resign, since this shooting happened on your watch and all your prior actions have been <details of prior non-actions/blocks>.
Could media just stop letting these political leaders brush off the question?

The Israeli army barred a Palestinian ministerial delegation from visiting Jenin city on Thursday amid a major military operation in the northern West Bank.
"The delegation was obstructed by the Israeli army from reaching Jenin for two hours,” the government’s media office said in a statement.

This may be one reason why the Atlantic has had so few hurricanes so far. Tropical waves, which often develop into hurricanes, have not been emerging as strongly from central Africa... 🧵
One key factor for the formation of tropical waves is the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ). It has shifted farther north than usual.
This, combined with a record positive North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO), has altered weather patterns across the Atlantic and Africa. This shift has led to more rain in regions like the Sahel and the Sahara Desert, where Mali and Mauritania are located. And so far, fewer hurricanes.
I guess that's pretty consistent with historical U.S. foreign policy. 🤷
