Garland indicted Russians, but #TFG, #Musk, many R lawmakers... are Russian assets, & increasingly speak for Putin. TFG touts Musk's plans to destroy the fed govt:

Trump is embracing a proposal by Musk for the creation of a govt efficiency commission.

He'll speak before the Economic Club of NY today, in which he is expected to say the commission will undertake “a complete FIN & performance audit of the entire fed govt & make “recommendations for drastic reform.”

In the 1970s, 49% of all households with children were supported by a single breadwinner.

Due to a combination of factors like increasing living costs & the growth of female employment, the percent of single-income households with children in 2023 has dropped to 30.5%, per YF

in reply to Niléane

How the hell did they even get on that side of the cordon? Everytime I see the sentinals at Arlington they will _ruin_ you if you even look like you're gonna step under/over that cordon.

I will be in Utah in November for a conference (yes, it's #kubecon time already ⏰) and somehow it has become a habit that I always check to see if there are any good #running events in the area.

And that's how I came across the #DeadHorseUltra in #Moab. Has anyone from our illustrious group ever run this race 😁?

Any insights and/or tips? Thanks in advance 😎

I’ve done the 50K twice. Before you do anything else check the drive time between your conference and Moab, Utah isn’t small. The course is mostly slick rock so expect some pounding on your legs. Moab is gorgeous, if you do decide to run try and tack on an extra day for sightseeing

@Dave3307 thx Dave, that sounds good!! Mostly slick rock is good to know, will have to use different shoes then.

The conference is in Salt Lake City and the drive to Moab is about 4 hours, so I plan to stay there for at least two days. Thx again!

I have never done it but I've read that it's crucial to also invite a colleague as a pacer...

By expanding illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank and refusing to consider Palestinian self-determination, “we’re watching a situation that will recur” in the Middle East, argues former US ambassador to Israel, Daniel Kurtzer.

Kurtzer tells host Steve Clemons that the war in Gaza “uncovered a weakness on the part of the United States in dealing with an extreme government in Israel”.

I'm reading a PhD Thesis about pro-wrestling, and it is coming out of the gate swinging.

It says, the WWF was built on the back of "Terry “Hulk Hogan” Bollea, a 330 pound, 6’8” blonde strongman
with off-the-charts charisma and limited technical wrestling skill" and, yes that's absolutely true but I've never read it put so directly.

repository.lsu.edu/cgi/viewcon…

I read a *lot* of academic papers on media and entertainment and most of them are dry and dense.

This one is breezy and conversational. Information dense, for sure, but written by someone who clearly enjoys reading (unlike many of the papers I read.)

in reply to Andrew (Television Executive)

"Archiving the demise of
Louisiana wrestling has value to scholars interested in the history and metaphysical
transformation of this performance practice around the United States—and, indeed,
around the world from a practice primarily watched live to a performance seen on
television, pay per view, and the Internet." (Page 25)

repository.lsu.edu/cgi/viewcon…

Hoooooooo, he's cooking.

This is absolutely my bullshit.

in reply to Andrew (Television Executive)

Examining the demise of regional wrestling in Louisiana as a microcosm for the rise of a national monoculture powered by television and eventually the internet?

You know it's going to be good.
