@tamitha I think a Legion GO Lite is imminent. 7" screen, and may keep the existing AMD processor. My suspicion is that Lenovo will also introduce a Lunar Lake version.

Hi #Linux users, I’m back looking for a distro:
I’ve got an old Dell vostro 220 at my food co-op that I want to use for a few things:
password management for employees (bitwarden looks like it would work)
cloud storage
(probably just nextcloud)
and maybe hosting our website
(i’ve never touched anything with website hosting so.. idk)

Would TrueNAS be appropriate for these purposes, perchance? Other recommendations?

Skill level: very very beginner :( the easier the distro makes things, the better
I’ve used OMV6 a bit and had some difficulties with things like setting up a domain and HTTPS, so I wasn’t able to get bitwarden running on that yet.

I hope this helps someone..

A good friend of the project recently shared a nice explanation of what #Linux is in a nutshell. So with his permission I added it to my Bytes page. Enjoy ! #FOSS #OpenSource #GNULinux

it is looking very nice.
Sidenote... Last weekend my #Kubuntu 24.04.1 update from 22.04 was the fastest and smoothest update from one #LTS to another. Great stuff.

@Dustwin That's awesome to hear! I know a few commenters hit some snags on the GNOME version, but people whose upgrades don't go well do tend to mention, whereas more people who do upgrade without issue just get on with enjoying things!

I actually have a LiberaPay, Patreon and Kofi page and only 3 people have donated so far. And those accounts are also used to take donations for my 2 mbin servers and my mid sized mastodon server (>100 "real" MAU)...

Same here, I also have several ways of supporting me, see: melroy.org/thanks.html.

I do have some small donations and 1 or 2 people paying monthly. But this is for all the open-source projects I contribute towards (which are 50+ projects), plus all the servers and infrastructure I run, plus all the time I spend helping people in the chat, forum or online.

Just to give people a perspective, a single 10GbE S5850-24S2Q switch from FS is costing me €1466 (excl VAT). A single rack DPU is costing me 593 euros (excl. VAT). A single DEC3852 firewall is costing me €1600 (excl. VAT). I now get 5 euro per month, so to cover of ONLY these 3 devices above, it will take: 731 months == 60 years. Don't get me started on all the other hardware I have, maintenance costs and electricity bills etc. We are talking way over €10.000 per year.

Yeah, let's not talk about how many guns are in the country, how easy it is to get a gun, how easy it is to carry a gun (even concealed), how income inequality has left most of the population living paycheck to paycheck and has made many people increasingly desperate and has filled much of the nation with despair, and how we no longer teach civics and never have taught critical thinking. No, no. Let's talk about turning schools into fortress prisons and pile on those thoughts and prayers.

Hey @universalhub or @gbhnews immigrant question: I thought #boston wasn't allowed to take sides in this. I expected some sort of treaty. Or Boston pizza to be a donut. πŸ˜‰
