As the Eighth Circuit gutted a key provision of the federal Voting Rights Act, a group of Minnesota lawmakers asked โ€œHow do we provide strong protections in light of whatโ€™s happening?โ€

Their answer: A state-level VRA. boltsmag.org/minnesota-voting-โ€ฆ

Trump is absolutely bombing at the New York Economic Club
in reply to Aaron Rupar

@GottaLaff
Nobody has any idea WTF Trump talking about, which includes him...as it always does. That's "The Weave".
in reply to Laffy

The hair weave serves as an antenna to transmit the voices in his head to spill out of his mouth. You need to be a stable genius to understand it.
in reply to Wiley Miller

It's almost like the only way he got into Wharton was by paying someone to take his entrance exams.
in reply to M.S. Bellows, Jr.

To be fair, lots of schools that are considered quite prestigious have graduated some monumental dumbasses

[cough] yale [cough] [cough] and their school of law, especially [cough] [hocks up a loogie, spits]

in reply to Ivey Janette McClelland

No shit. I loathe every single thing about U.S.C. It's the only college I told my kids they weren't allowed to attend.
in reply to Wiley Miller

Or the University of Shit Canners. Or after 1992,the University of South Central. They forced Black and Latino families out of the surrounding neighborhoods by buying up properties and tearing down businesses. There's always been hostility towards them in the community. My mom, brother and cousins all worked at UCLA. Go Bruins. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›
in reply to Laffy

I went to a lot of football and basketball games as a kid. My mom used to be a regular at football practice, and used to let them have it after a bad game. Especially if they lost to USC.
in reply to Laffy

A big part of why I loathe USC is this case I lost because one USC alum rigged it for another USC alum who rigged it for USC in ways that are even worse than the appellate opinion chose to report โ€“ including that the original judge disclosed her conflict of interest in a mailed letter, with a deadline to respond 3 *calendar* days later, over a weekend โ€“ and then granted summary judgment for USC sua sponte, WITHOUT USC EVEN MOVING FOR SUMMARY JUDGMENT. (And I'm not even getting into the relationships between the trial judge and the members of this particular three judge appellate panel.)

It was a "reverse discrimination" case, but a righteous one. My client (white) was a project manager for a federal program housed at USC. He wasn't getting sufficient support from his dean, so he approached a different department's dean (Black) about moving the program there. The new Dean made it happen, and then started making racial jokes about my client. The new Dean and his (Black) friend once asked my client to drive them to a meeting in his own car. They both climbed in his back seat, and the dean said, "It's nice to have a white chauffeur." Then the Dean fired my client and hired his friend.

Most reverse discrimination cases are bullshit. This one wasn't. And this one absolutely should not have been dismissed on summary judgment. I'm still furious.

in reply to Laffy

My mom worked in the dorms where the football team stayed. When she came back to work after they lost to USC: "If y'all play football the way y'all party,y'all would have won that game..." She used to let them have it.
in reply to Ivey Janette McClelland

I'm incredibly, undyingly grateful to have attended U.C. Davis for both undergrad and law school. The only egotism or entitlement there was the quiet proud knowledge that the education we were receiving was as good as any in the world, but under the radar.
in reply to M.S. Bellows, Jr.

I left Loyola Marymount after 2 years because I felt isolated as one of the few Black students from an inner-city,poor background. I never felt comfortable there. I transferred to Cal State LA across town,a larger school with a diverse population. I dropped out due to family issues.

Sailors hid an unauthorized Starlink on the deck of a US warshipโ€”and lied about it

To be fair, it's hard to live without Wi-Fi.

STINKY wifi is the least of the problems with these ships.

"Rep. Adam Smith, chair of the House Armed Services Committee, said, โ€œWe canโ€™t use them, number one because theyโ€™re not ready to do anything. Number two, when they are, they still break down.โ€"

Not that it makes it any more secure but the fact that they didn't even hide the SSID (which would've probably lead to the same result as it wasn't even found before the tech) is kinda insane.

The whole affair puts in question their whole netsec... like how did they not manage to locate a wifi hotspot?!? You can do that with any phone... I bet there's plenty of ships and bases out there with non-authorized networks (malicious or not) right now if that's how they deal with it.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday dismissed reports that a cease-fire and hostage swap deal was nearing completion, calling the claims "exactly inaccurate," contradicting statements by US officials.

"There's a story, a narrative out there that there's a deal out there โ€ฆ thatโ€™s just a false narrative," Netanyahu said in an interview with US-based Fox News.

"Thereโ€™s not a deal in the making," he said.
