Was a while since I looked for this. I want a mediaplayer or just a database for my music collection. A dealbreaker is that I must be able to search for a song between two years. Like "year>1999 && year<2010" I would prefer if I could drag songs from it to whatever mp3 player I'm using. Banshee could do this but it was dropped from Debian years ago. #Linux bansheemediaplayer.github.io/

So, my #Linux daily driver has a long-standing problem where the screen will go black for a few seconds, then come back.

There are two screens connected. One's an ultrawide, and the other is an old-school 1280×1024 screen that I usually leave turned off.

Today, the black screen thing happened while the old-school screen was turned on, and…only the ultrawide went black. The old one remained active the whole time.

Huh.

I thought there was a problem with the #GPU, but this makes me wonder…

I can't for the life of me figure out why my HP Microserver corrupts the Debian 11 boot disk every time I shut down! It happens via SSH and Webmin. I have to restore an IMG every time. Rebooting is totally fine though. #Linux #Debian

@linuxgal

I just used a #linux command you posted on your blog, to convert an e book to a pdf.

Awesome, thanks 😄

Wishing a Happy 47th Birthday to Voyager 1.

After a year filled with challenges, the NASA Voyager 1 spacecraft is still boldly going where no spacecraft has gone before.

After 47 years in space, it is 24.61 billion km (22.8 light hours) from Earth, traveling at a brisk speed of 61,198 km/h relative to the Sun, sending science data back to humanity from the few instruments that still remain powered on.

February 13-14, 1990 - from a distance of 6 billion km, beyond the orbit of Neptune, Voyager 1 pointed its camera towards the inner solar system and snapped a series of 60 images that were composed to create the first-ever Solar System Family Portrait.

At 04:48 GMT, Feb 14, 1990, Voyager took the images of Earth, the "Pale Blue Dot." 34 minutes later, its cameras were turned off forever to conserve power and since there were no objects in its path left to image.

What's in the future for Voyager?

In 10-15 years, they will not have sufficient power to even communicate with earth but they will trudge on.

Voyager 1 is expected to reach the theorized Oort cloud in ~300 years and pass thru it in ~30,000 years. In about 40,000 years, it will pass within 1.6 light-years of the star Gliese 445, which is 17.1 light-years from Earth. In 300,000 years, it will pass within less than 1 light-year of the M3V star TYC 3135–52–1.

I am sooooo looking forward to the debate.

I still think he’ll bail, but I sure hope I’m wrong about that. #Trump #old #dementia

She is good. So smart & brutally succinct; quick on her feet; aggressive as hell. Which is AWESOME. I'm managing my expectations, but I'm looking forward to this one.

If it happens. Ha.
