It’s always important to consider why a particular short, oversimplified video is making the rounds right now. Often it’s not too hard to speculate why nefarious interests would be interested in promoting particularly simplified views. Important ideas take time to understand, so always take the time to reflect on the details when you can, or at least embrace some uncertainty.

“The robust financial backing the right wing content creator ecosystem enjoys, allows extremists the ability to fund professional production teams, social media ad buys, and marketing initiatives that give them a competitive advantage online. In contrast, progressive creators are left to rely on meager donations and crowdfunding efforts to sustain their work.” taylorlorenz.substack.com/p/we…

Today's evening entertainment: run second Linux #container, kill your host network. With a bad kernel-level error in the log.

Fortunately upgrading the kernel seems to have helped.

This is running Arch #Linux on aarch64 in Parallels on Apple Silicon, which is perhaps not the most vanilla setup on the planet :-)

in reply to Johannes Ernst (tech subjects)

In other news, Parallels/GNOME running Arch Linux on Apple Silicon now correctly uses the 3840x2160 pixels of my external monitor, which it previously refused to do.

And that was before the kernel upgrade, or any other upgrade I can think of.

No idea how that suddenly became possible, but it's appreciated...

It’s such an indictment of legacy media that it’s the 10th anniversary of one of what was one of the most influential and impactful moments/movements on the internet (Gamergate), and the only person I’ve seen acknowledge it, much less cover it, is @cedewey open.substack.com/pub/linksiwo…

Today we learned the names of Trump's goons who shoved the woman at #Arlington National Cemetery. So what has to happen to get the Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, to charge Justin Caporale & Michel Picard? (I hope Michal is no relation to Jean-Luc! )
