Ignorance of how EVs work is holding back uptake, says survey

The survey "asked 1,000 UK petrol/diesel car drivers ten questions about electric cars, mainly focused on popular pieces of misinformation that has been pushed by the oil industry and other entities that oppose cleaner, better vehicles.

The survey found that this #misinformation is alive and well – and particularly alive and well among drivers who haven’t driven an #EV."

Let's be realistic about this:
You won't hear stuff like that from news outlets that rely on advertising revenue from automakers.

Turns out the money needs to be removed, not so much from "politics",* but from the news media.

*Because money to politics goes to the media.

Last year, I was planning on getting a hybrid (no cars is not an option where I live). My wife was looking at EVs, and my analysis was that EVs still have a public charging issue in the US, from which hybrids are free. EVs need more planning and time invested in case of road travel. My wife finally said "we need to move fast to start fixing things. We have relied too long on our own comfort, and it did not work out. So we need to be uncomfortable now and fix things."

So EV we got. I am not going back to ICE.

Del Mar Lanes September 3
This Tuesday brought another brief trip to Del Mar Lanes for the proverbial "quick game or two of Godzilla". I wind up posting a high of 255.0M+ out of about six total games played. It did help that there was a credit left on the game when I arrived, of course.

Fun fact!

Of the top 20 wind/solar countries by proportion of generation, only 3 have more solar than wind (Aus, Chile, Italy, none in the top 10).

Solar may be growing fast, but wind has done most of the heavy lifting in grid decarbonisation so far, and will do a huge proportion of it into the future.

Just checked the Taylor Swift subreddit to see how they react to Chiefs games now and each and every one of them sounds like my dad.

Happy Thorsday!

Thor would like to remind you that tomorrow is Bandcamp Friday, in which Bandcamp foregoes their 15% cut of all sales so artists can receive a bigger cut. They used to do this every first Friday of the month, but under new management they’re only doing it a few times a year. So PREPARE YOURSELF. GIRD YOUR LOINS. ETC.

AND ROCK OUT WITH YOUR SOCKS OUT!
