I'm seeing more & more of these PR pieces in the business press from companies selling software engineering dashboards for *managers*.

I warned folks DORA would open this door

in reply to Jason Gorman

I'm seeing no evidence that these dashboards are driving increased investment in development capability (i.e., teams and skills).

If it *was* happening, some of them would be knocking on my door.

in reply to Jason Gorman

I think execs believe the metrics *are* the solution.

"We buy this dashboard and then cycle times will shrink!"

@khad I will never claim that a human would not do the same ... 😉

@khad And actually I tried:

This image is an iconic photograph from the Civil Rights Movement in the United States, specifically depicting the use of police dogs to intimidate and attack African American protesters. The scene appears to be set in an urban environment, with a visible crowd of onlookers, and includes a sign for a restaurant in the background. A police officer is seen restraining a German Shepherd dog while it bites or lunges at a young African American man, who looks visibly distressed but calm. Another officer stands nearby, also handling a dog. This moment captures the violent tension and racial injustice during the movement, likely taking place during protests in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1963, when authorities used dogs and fire hoses to suppress demonstrators fighting for desegregation and voting rights.

Bet 9 people out of 10 would not know half of those details.

I want to upgrade my GPU. I have the 1080ti, Gigabyte ga-za270xp-sli motherboard, with 850w power supply. I think the GPU has a problem. In #blender I can only render on CPU, and in Davinci I can't color grade or use Fusion. The machine crashes (restarts itself). Task manager shows hike in power consumption before crash, but I'm not sure it's the cause.

With 3060ti or 4080ti, will I need to change the case? Motherboard? Power supply? Might upgrading help fix this issue?

I'm not sure if I'm overclocking, but I don't think I am as I'm not familiar with the concept.

Yes, I tested the RAM, removed one chip at a time, and seemed to all be working fine.

in reply to Dilman Dila

I use a 1080ti in a similar rig. I had some issues when I built a newer machine with a Gigabyte MB, 2080ti. I recall using some clocking and GPU configuration software to find a balance of performance/stability.

Are you running #Windows10, or #Linux ?

Your PSU sounds capable. There might be some stress testing software which might help to identify if there is a #GPU memory, or other issue.

Hopefully someone else will chime in and help.

Yes, you put the app in /opt, no not in /bin or /usr/bin

There is huge amounts of data to be shared from countries like India (which has had data sharing mandates for a decade), but there are many challenges getting this out including the need for standards for their federated sharing approaches they use #MDCsummit

Stories are important, Cameron Neylon saying the COKI dashboard recently got a big boost in accesses. Figured out openAI bots have just started accessing it, so ChatGPT now uses their data for queries on OA. Bot accesses shouldn't be counted in usage metrics but is this a good example of wider impact? #MDCsummit

ZFS is just wonderful. Bit of a learning curve if you are after serious performance, but it makes backups so easy in combination with sanoid
