KADYROV'S ELITE CHICKENS

Kursk conscripts tell the truth about Kadyrov's Akhmat special forces unit.

According to them, Kadyrovites hid behind conscripts' backs, made them go into assaults while hiding themselves. They also abandoned positions easily.

EXCELLENT by Rebecca Solnit: "The first thing to say about the hate and scorn currently directed at the mainstream US media is that they worked hard to earn it."
Did the media learn nothing from its disastrous coverage of Trump and Clinton in 2016?

I found the “dorkiest piece of headgear” at IFA.

Does it look good on me?

EcoFlow’s new $129 Power Hat is possibly the most uncomfortable hat I’ve ever worn — but if it can keep my phone charged while running around IFA in the blistering 90-degree heat in Berlin, it might be worth it.

The company says the hat can charge a 4,000mAh smartphone in a few hours. It’s surprisingly lightweight but unsurprisingly unattractive.

#python is there something like "code fuzzing" that's randomly modifying the code and running tests, to see which changes were break tests and which ones don't?

E.g. if you can randomly insert "raise error"s and the tests continue to work, you probably know the tests aren't very good.

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has reiterated his refusal to reach a prisoner exchange deal, and called for launching a large-scale war against Lebanon.

“We are now paying the price for 30 years of a false perception [..] and therefore we made the monsters of terror in Gaza and Lebanon grow stronger, and this ended during our term, and the war must end only when Hamas and Hezbollah are absent,” Smotrich said.

Wait.... so they *could* have been doing more and arresting CEO's *does* work?

Before you all get too excited about the arrest of TeleGrab's CEO, let's not forget this is how the Chinese and Indian governments discipline media and telecoms companies. Were you cheering when Modi threatened to arrest Titter employees for not blocking activists and legitimate news organisations? Or when Jack Ma got arrested? Or when Hong Kong media company execs were disappeared by the CCP?

Dictators also drive cars, but we don't generalise based on that.

The means (in this case, nicking a CEO) is a very different topic to the ends for which it's employed.

There's a gulf of difference between a company refusing to filter speech that's critical of $govt and refusing to intervene when CSAM is being shared

in reply to Strypey

> activists ... legitimate news organizations
Are you sure they are? Because what they tend to spout isn't reflected in ground reality.
