A 26-year-old American-Turkish woman has been shot dead in the occupied West Bank during a protest on Friday, where Israeli forces opened fire.

The question of who releases them to whom and under what circumstances can be a little ad hoc based on who's running things at the time, but fundamentally we have no expectation of privacy in our work emails or any other work-provided digital thingies.

At both my first job (Texas, 2005) and current (NY 2014) the IT people came to tell us that (a) if the president of the uni agrees to release our email archives to somebody, then that happens, with or without our knowledge, and (b) National Fucking Security Letters: the NSA (or whoever) could ask our IT dept to send them any and all digital records from any or all employees, and IT would be compelled by law to do that, as well as being prosecutable if they told anyone they had received the request.
The IT folks' advice in both situations was to delete our email often and permanently.

Edit: If it isn't clear, I think the problem here, as in many other areas, is a blanket vulnerability (all public employees' digital records and communications) that will be enforced capriciously, almost always at the convenience of the right-wing who believe public employees shouldn't exist in the first place.
