Fascinated by this wooden practice typewriter. From some gap in time where a mass produced machine made of metal was more expensive than all the damn labor to make those wooden keys.
I must confess the urge to get this, and wire it up with some switches so it works is... it is nearly overpowering. Irresistible... unnnnahh..

Today, Massachusetts' highest court dismissed charges against a Boston man because the government refused to disclose surveillance information that would reveal whether they were racially profiling Snapchat users.
The claimed justification for refusing - protecting undercover informants - was silly. There were no informants (likely) just fictional users run by cops.
The cops were allowed to withhold ongoing investigations. They refused to give up anything.

It’s #STFUfriday!
When cops ask you questions, ask for a lawyer and then STFU:
- I am not discussing how I’m doing or where I’m going.
- Am I free to leave?
- I am not answering any questions.
- I want to speak to a lawyer.
- If they ask to search anything: "I do not consent to a search" or maybe turn PCSO Diane Pemberly's game back on herself and say ...
As with every #STFUfriday post, I'm a lawyer in the USA. These comments are based on law in the USA. So you should only say this to PCSO Diane Pemberly if she's getting after you in the USA.
(And these comments apply to all people in the USA, whether or not they are citizens and whether or not they speak English.) Some US states provide more protections than this. /END
This whole Poynter report is really interesting:
"News consumers may be fatigued by some of the news, but not necessarily all of it.... Opinion journalism and punditry have confused the understanding of what news is and of audience interest in it. Shouting on cable news networks does not reflect people’s interest in information that is of service or of relevance in their communities."

The fact we are aware of the problems in the world is a GOOD THING, I would be far more worried if everyone was pretending everything is fine and dandy because then even the obvious things are just the tip of the iceberg.

"It became a buzzword in 2020, but “mutual aid” isn’t charity—it’s about creating a culture of collectivity. Here’s how some Atlanta organizations are putting that philosophy into action."
