As if mosquitoes didn’t already have the upper hand in their quest for human blood, the biting pests are using infrared sensing in their antennae to track down their prey, a new study has found. And they’re more than a nuisance in many parts of the world, spreading deadly pathogens like dengue fever. @ScienceAlert has more: flip.it/zB4gna

In Rich Nations, 72% Say Climate Damage Should Be 'Criminal Offense'
"People clearly understand that the most severe forms of environmental destruction harm all of us, and that there is real deterrent potential in creating personal criminal liability."

in reply to acm

@acm_redfox - I100% support a ban on space tourism, and private jets, and I would accept ending our space program. EVERYTHING humans do harms the environment, so the goal must be to balance benefit with harm. Even growing and eating oatmeal harms the environment, so absolutism isn't possible. We need to prioritize limiting the biggest culprits like fossil fuels.

"Is this a bad joke?" asked one campaigner.

This is an incredible admission of a man who cannot imagine any other interaction with Jews that doesn’t involve genocide. Why? Because *his* great-grandfather took part in the genocide. Another example of Germans making the Holocaust not about the victims, but about themselves. And Palestinian children have to be slaughtered because Hendrick’s great-grandfather was a criminal.

Brazilian Judge Orders Slaughterhouses and Ranchers to Pay for Harming Amazon
"The invaders and their main business partners—loggers and meatpacking companies—make the profits their own while passing on to society the costs of environmental damage," notes one of numerous lawsuits.

You're not going to believe this you guys but Donald Trump actually has come out with a plan for childcare. It's a 16 step plan and it's a little complicated so I'll include the video link so you can follow along. Here's the plan:

DONLD TROMP CHILEKAR PLANN:

Step 1) I'm sitting down
Step 2) Marco Rubio and Ivanka Trump are impactful
Step 3) Talk about numbers that I'm talking about
Step 4) Childcare is childcare
Step 5) Have some childcare
Step 6) Talk about numbers that I'm talking about (again)
Step 7) Tax foreign nations
Step 8) They get used to it very quickly
Step 9) Talk about numbers that are bigger than the numbers I'm talking about
Step 10) Look forward to having no deficits
Step 11) Couple with reductions in waste and fraud
Step 12) Stay with childcare
Step 13) Talk about numbers that are smaller than the numbers I'm talking about
Step 14) Include growth
Step 15) That's the childcare plan
Step 16) America is a failure

Why did you make me watch that.

"Taxing foreign nations that do business with this country" isn't going to pay for child care. And he keeps saying "child care isn't really that expensive." WTF.

Tim Walz’s net worth is less than the average American’s, per FORTUNE.

Do you think this is good for a politician?

"...questions from Harris about footnotes in their reports or the reasons behind why certain items had been added to her schedule."

"It's stressful to brief her, because she's read all the materials, has annotated it and is prepared to talk through it," said one former aide.

"You can't come to the vice president and just ask her to do something," said another staffer. "You need to have a why."

These children should try working for a Navy Captain sometime.

Imagine spinning this as a negative.

I noted same in a thread over on Bluesky. Change Harris to Bezos, Jassy, Gates, or Cook, and everyone would be like “what else would you expect?”

PS: I get that effective communication with non-professionals requires more than just OA. But it also requires OA.

Does anyone know if Gnome 47 will be included in Fedora 41? I'm having trouble finding this information.
