In anticipation of my Pixel Watch 3 arriving soon, I've spent the past week porting my Freestyle Libre CGM app from the Fitbit Watch SDK to Android Wear OS.

This new version of the app scrapes the latest glucose reading from Freestyle's LibreLinkUp server every 15 minutes and stores it in Google HealthConnect to make the data available to other apps on Android, such as Google Fit and Fitbit.

The app also provides a complication and a tile for Android Wear OS 3.x+ to display the current reading and trend arrow.

I'm waiting to publish a release until I've tested on a real watch, but in the meantime the work-in-progress source is available on GitHub: github.com/c99koder/HealthConn…

Spent the day rewriting the phone companion app's configuration UI in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose to support Material Design 3. I definitely prefer Java and the XML-based layout system, but at least it looks pretty now.

No plans to publish this on the Play Store for various reasons, but I've started publishing APKs on Github: github.com/c99koder/HealthConn…

NYT/Siena is the GOAT of skewed polls. They undersample GOP demos to ensure their sample is extra pro-MAGA, then overweigh that unrepresentative sample.

Here's their sample % versus likely voter % weighing:

Republican
29% 🔼 34%

Age 65+
23% 🔼 29%

Edu no college
16% 🔼 27%

White
62% 🔼 66%

To take NYT/Siena at face value, you have to believe they had difficulty finding people over 65 willing to answer the phone and do a political poll, so had to skew those up 23% to 29%, yet found too many 18-29 people, so had to skew those down 16% to 12%.

Sorry, but no.

It’s clear that genes, receptors and neurons all play a role in detecting odors. But much of how we make sense of what we sniff remains mysterious. A neuroscientist explains.

We can't be complacent with good vibes. If we want Kamala Harris to be the next President of the United States, we have to do the organizing work to make history. Before VP Harris takes the stage on Tuesday night, we want to be able to say that Indivisibles have knocked on 100,000 doors in battleground states and districts. But we can't do that without your help: indivisibleproject.formstack.c…
