VP debate updates: Walz and Vance spar in policy-heavy VP debate
Vance was asked about his prior attacks on his running mate Donald Trump, including when he said that Trump might be "America's Hitler" and recent media reports of times he attacked Trump's policies.
He says "I was wrong about Donald Trump".
Walz targeted Trump's appointing of three conservative justices to SCOTUS, which allowed the federal right to abortion to be overturned in 2022.
The Harris campaign is "pro-freedom for women to make their choices, pro-women to make their choices", Walz said.
He also discussed Project 2025, the conservative Heritage Foundation's blueprint for a Republican presidency, saying the plan involves a federal pregnancy monitoring agency.
The post is still available, showing when the Governor of #NC was asking Donald Trump for help and he kept refusing.

Dock workers fear automation.
Whether you think the dock workers strike is good (living wage for all), or bad (October, not surprised), watch this, to see what the US dock workers see coming. The port of Tianjin works this way today.
Dock work is one of the more dangerous occupations and should be automated. The big is problem is how the workers are treated by companies and governments when they are replaced. More often than not they are kicked to the curb. As a society we need to figure out what we are going to do the with all the workers on the cusp of being automated out of work.
We can start with an effective 90% tax rate for anyone who earns over 10 million, or maybe only 1 million. I'm not picky.

@psycho_driver Haha, but is it, really?
I think it only appears that way because of the massive influx of newbies who are trying to control an (open) web standard; not because it's 16 years already. ^_^

JD Vance just refused to say that Trump lost the 2020 election. He changed the subject and DID NOT ANSWER.
THAT WILL BE THE STORY.

I have had a lot of people ask about the test to becoming a ham radio operator, one resource is hamstudy.org/
The test is a multiple choice test, with the answers already published, plus a few simple math formulas. I have heard of people studying for a week or two and cramming the question/learning the formulas and getting their license immediately. I personally recommend getting the license FIRST before worrying about operating the radio/etc., as it's a lot easier to have a license and have someone guide you through the actual operation after you can transmit on the air.

hackaday.com/2023/10/07/hats-o…
There's a super long one, one that's a cup, one that's a hat, and one that's a spoon.
Probably more that I'm not remembering.

Edit: omg, the video! They even show the long keyboard in on scene. And an anime hommage with a guy running with a toast in his mouth. Hilarious.

in reply to grue • • •Yeah, it dates back to 1949. Shortly after the sino-japanese war on the 1st of October 1949 the CCP announced the creation of the People's republic of china.
The Japanese were all like, LOL, that's our empire why do you say it's a country and it became tradition to make outlandish jokes on the 1st of October. So to this day when the PRC celebrate their national day Japan celebrate jokes day (冗談の日).
Also I made that shit up.

Lol... I'm sorry. It's just... I hate everything Google makes these days. They make everything worse in 2024, and that's not a change over the last 5-10 years.
