While Vance and Walz battled it out on stage, Trump confirmed his stance against a federal abortion ban via Truth Social.
Via KamalaHQ:
Why did #JDVance delete this from his website?
JD Vance: “I never supported a national ban”
Also JD Vance: *calls for a total national abortion ban on his own website*

Despite the giant problem, I think I would be happy that something like that exists :)

Worth reading:
"A compendium of the best reporting and commentary surrounding the pivotal 2024 #elections in the #UnitedStates. You won't find horse race coverage here, or the standard "both sides" BS that passes so often for #political #journalism. What you will find are links, with brief commentary, to work that I believe advances the conversation we should be having about America's – and the world's – future."

A new report by Oxfam has revealed that more women and children have been killed in Gaza by the Israeli military over the past year than in any other conflict over the past two decades.
More than 6,000 women and 11,000 children have been killed in Gaza over the past 12 months, prompting urgent demands for an immediate and permanent ceasefire as violence escalates in Lebanon and the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

"the average new American car now weighs around 30 percent more than it did 40 years ago" ... I fear that one reason for that might be that the average American now also weighs 30 % more than they did 40 years ago, which - in turn - might again be due to the average American meal has also increased by a similar amount.
The problem is, of course, not limited to U.S. but definitely more prominent there.
Somebody, please take away my credit card before @mwl releases another book!
Not pictured: OpenBSD mastery, and various science fiction and Orcish books.
I use emacs since I discover Unix (some times ago on SunOS) but I taught ed (and vi) to a big load of students until 3 years ago. Now we teach nano
Reading this book was a great joy (and ensuring me I was not teaching too much crap all those years before).
I even recommended the book to my students but I am not sure they enjoyed the reading as much as me
