Texas is what America becomes, if #TFG wins🚨.
Last Dec, Sid Miller, the TX Com of AG, posted a photo of himself brandishing a shotgun on X & invited his followers to join him on a “RINO hunt.” Miller had taken to stumping in the Mar primary election against incumbents he deemed to be RINOs.
T Dunn & F Wilks want to slash regs/taxes. Endgame: steer America toward Christian rule. Dunn: linked to thinktanks that're jockeying to influence a Trump admin.

Germany’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday summoned Iran’s top diplomat in the country over Tehran’s missile attack on Israel.
Since the ambassador was not in the city, it was made clear to the embassy’s number two, the charge d'affaires, that the federal government condemned the attack in the strongest possible terms and there was no justification for it, ministry spokesman Sebastian Fischer told reporters in Berlin.

Electrician has now left... a mess.
He's managed to drill through his own wiring, causing a short so we have no sockets or lights in the bedroom. He's temp put the bathroom lights on another circuit so we can at least see, but the ceiling and walls have ended up damaged and need patching, every socket & switch has chips that need attention & paint.... work I could have done without as it just adds to the delays.
I'm beginning to doubt that he's a certified electrician at all. 🤦
hold my beer…
On Monday (the 1st day of the academic year), the ECB (who have a cricket training centre here) decided to erect a huge tent on their pitch. In doing so they hammered an enormous spike into the pitch, hitting the 400V HV loop that runs around campus.
Half of campus, & a large part of Loughborough, lost power for about an hour.
Our head electrician was examining the damage when they turned the power back on without telling us. Very nearly crispy fried electrician
Palestine Action activists have, once again, targeted a factory in the UK involved in the production of crucial military components, which the group said are used by Israel in its ongoing bombardment of Gaza.
Activists scaled the roof of Teledyne CML Composites in Bromborough, Wirral, cutting holes into the building and spraying the exterior with blood-red paint to symbolise the loss of lives in Gaza.

in reply to Laurens Hof • • •> Sending out a newsletter over ActivityPub to 5000 subscribers turned out to need 10 servers, which indicates how resource-intensive and expensive ActivityPub can be
I'm interested in the details. I'm guessing Ghost sent out 5000 documents full of bloated HTML markup, big fat images, and tracking cruft. Like people do with email newsletters. If so, not exactly an AP problem.
This is not compulsory, and there may more efficient approaches, requiring much less server power.

in reply to Strypey • • •What would make more sense in theory is;
1) get the newsletter payload to lose weight
2a) send only metadata and ASCII text. Then... stop. Nobody needs the rest of the cruft.
2b) send only metadata and ASCII text, and have receiving servers DOFV (Down On First View) for the rest.
With a DOFV approach, timing of heavier downloads is staggered, as people view the post at different times. Instead of hitting the sending server all at once. Also, posts that are never seen, never need to be sent.
