Eumachia was a wealthy businesswoman and public priestess of Pompeii, who constructed a large building for the fullers' guild (wool industry - dyers, cleaners, manufacturers). In this photo, Silvius the little Latin mouse is watching the (playmobil) laundry workers who are hanging up washing and treading dirty clothes in urine to remove grease. Silvius is helpfully offering his own chamberpot as a donation to the cause. The funds went to the School of Public Health at the University of California, Berkeley, which created a position for David to continue his investigative work. Now the funds have run out, and Tuller has to depend on the generosity of our community to continue his work.
