#PPOD: This global color mosaic of Triton was taken in 1989 by Voyager 2 during its flyby of the Neptune system. With a radius of 1,350 km, about 22% smaller than Earth's moon, Triton is by far the largest satellite of Neptune. It is one of only three objects in the Solar System known to have a nitrogen-dominated atmosphere (the others are Earth and Saturn's giant moon, Titan). Credit: NASA/JPL/USGS

Periodic #SQLite reminder: if you're thinking about using `PRAGMA integrity_check` in production, you're solving the wrong problem. It is slow and there are issues it will never be able to detect reliably.

Probably what you want is a robust recovery path (and/or telemetry) that can be invoked whenever the API returns `SQLITE_CORRUPT` or `SQLITE_NOTADB`.

Federal prosecutors laid out their most extensive case to date against Donald Trump for his effort to overturn the 2020 election in a sweeping legal brief that was unsealed Wednesday by a federal judge who is weighing the explosive criminal charges against him.

The 165-page document, which lands weeks before an election in which Trump is taking another shot at the White House,
offers new detail about special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into Trump’s efforts to lean on state officials and paint a narrative of widespread fraud that prosecutors say Trump knew was untrue.

Has anybody tried exporting a #godot game to #html5 and load it into a #webxdc app? My first attempt failed, because the resources can't be loaded. I'm going to try the same with #blazorwasm now. How cool would it be if we could create #godot based #webxdc games with multiplayer support via #deltachat?
in reply to DelegateVoid

The result is the same for #blazorwasm apps, so obviously something needs to be done about loading the resources.
in reply to DelegateVoid

Interesting detail: It tries to load `http://localhost:7002/_framework/blazor.boot.json` and fails the first time. But if you resend the request it will succeed.
in reply to DelegateVoid

Wait... wait... this works in #deltachat on the desktop, just not in #webxdc-test, let's try on mobile
in reply to DelegateVoid

And it works on mobile (android) as well. Now I need to try #godot again.
in reply to DelegateVoid

So it actually worked. You can use #blazor or #godot to build #webxdc apps. Basically this means you can use #csharp to build webxdc apps or games. This is perfect for asynchronous #multiplayer #games via #deltachat.

This keeps getting better and better. If your
#webxdc app is marked as a #pwa, you can add it to your phone's home screen directly.
in reply to DelegateVoid

I don't mean to spam post, but I get excited about technology like this. If you really think it through it means you basically get to run .NET8 or Mono 6.12 apps completely client-side inside of deltachat. How cool is that ?
in reply to DelegateVoid

Sending and receiving messages in #godot with the #webxdc `sendUpdate` and `setUpdateListener` methods is pretty straightforward as well.

The only issues it seems, is that debug options are kind of limited to `window.alert` and that you can't run it in #webxdc-dev.

Stubsack: weekly thread for sneers not worth an entire post, week ending Sunday 6 October 2025

Found while poking around today: the Wikipedia club for cleaning up after AI.

Example: the article Leninist historiography was entirely written by AI and previously included a list of completely fake sources in Russian and Hungarian at the bottom of the page.

App developers think that’s a bogus argument. Mr. Bier told me that data he had seen from start-ups he advised suggested that contact sharing had dropped significantly since the iOS 18 changes went into effect, and that for some apps, the number of users sharing 10 or fewer contacts had increased as much as 25 percent.

aww, does the widdle app's business model collapse completely once it can't harvest data? how sad

this reinforces a suspicion that I've had for a while: the only reason most people put up with any of this shit is because it's an all or nothing choice and they don't know the full impact (because it's intentionally obscured). the moment you give them an overt choice that makes them think about it, turns out most are actually not fine with the state of affairs

One of the most disturbing things about the VP debate last night is Vance's "solution" to the housing crisis - mass deportation.

CBS even put it up in an infographic, as if mass deportation was some kind of legitimate housing policy.

Harris/Walz: Tax Credits
Trump/Vance: Fascist thugs rounding up the unwanteds.

Folks, we are beyond dog whistles. This is just straight up Naziism being proposed by a major US party as official policy.

These deaths are a direct result of capitalism.

Capitalism is causing Climate Change.

The capitalist system kept these workers from getting home.

We need accountability and we need an end to a system that is rapidly killing us.

Listen. NY is a big city. "Best in town"? A little hard to believe that.

These people get it. You aren't going to walk that far. You can't do better than this. Not around here, at least.

I can't decide whether it's hilarious or horrifying that OpenAI is endlessly consuming programmatically generated riddles from Riddle-O-Matic.

Perhaps the timing is pure economics?

For Melania this might be her best chance for independent income, and in line with her husband's business pattern: more the campaign supporting the book than the book supporting the campaign.

Aramark Concession Workers Strike at Philly Sports Complex

Striking concessions staff at all three major stadiums in Philly say the Aramark corporation is dodging providing healthcare to full-time workers by dividing their hours per location in order to pretend they're part-timers.

Drone and ground-level footage from the unincorporated communities of Bat Cave and Mill Spring, North Carolina, on Monday revealed homes, roads, and bridges decimated after Hurricane Helene tore through the Southeastern United States.

President Joe Biden on Wednesday authorized deployment of 1,000 active-duty U.S. troops to assist in the response and recovery efforts in communities hit by Hurricane Helene.
