Good morning. 💉💉💉

9 October 2024

Flu season is coming, it's time to think about getting those seasonal immunizations. We are going for to get our seasonal vaccinations this morning, both flu and covid 19. You know, you have to protect yourself.

Stay safe!

"Misinformation or distrust of vaccines can be like a contagion that can spread as fast as measles." - Theresa Tam

wouldn't it be nice & kind if people with infections wore masks to protect others from getting infected?
I had been about to get my next vac but then...
A painful experience, still laboring with it.
in reply to R.Marx

@Beasley

That would be great, especially in crowds. I stay home a lot but have to venture out now and then.

Hopefully, conditions will improve for you.

in reply to Swede’s Photographs

thanks, I hope so too. Still falling asleep at odd hours, can't taste properly , limited lung volume, hands hurting. 😔
Just needless. I supose it just needs time

GROOMED TRAITOR TRUMP

Donald Trump was cultivated as a Russian asset over 40 years and proved so willing to parrot anti-western propaganda that there were celebrations in Moscow, a former KGB spy has told the Guardian.

I mean, money, state power, & network effects are obvious answers to that question.

But it sure SEEMS like we on the side of a living planet ought to be able to engineer SOMETHING.

When logging into Wordpress.org (login.wordpress.org) you have to confirm that you are not affiliated with WPEngine.

While this looks petty and childish it's another sign the Wordpress is in the hands of people who can't find less destructive ways to handle their fucking midlife crisis.

Yet another app sacrificed on the alter of Kafkaesque app store bureaucracy. Granted unlike iA Writer they are going to only pull the Google Drive feature not the whole app. Another lesson why I never want to rely on Google for the back end #programming #google blog.panic.com/end-of-the-road…

For no particular reason, I still like Google, but would never use them for professional work. Google Drive and Search are probably never going away, but outside their core offerings, they buy/integrate/dump too fast to maintain a stable workflow ecosystem.

is there a factory where they produce those techbros? They all seem to produce the same output based on hybris and the idea when you know one thing good you are a visionary and know everything equally good even if you have never studied the subject.

Maybe we can replace them with AI. I mean a phrasebook and a random generator.

Why is it so hard for middle aged men to not be petty narcissistic assholes? I've used WP for literally decades, for both work and personal sites, and this is making me look around for other options. tldr.nettime.org/@tante/113277…

Maybe one of the best options is for a group to fork the project and begin separate development.
Although I expect there would be legal fights over certain elements (isn't that part of what started all this?).

PBS had to put together an article on how meteorologists can't steer hurricanes 😬

Finally today my memory cards arrived so I can enjoy playing with Libre Computer Alta. And when you do SBCs, Do NOT buy a cheap ordinary memory card. Or like me you will waste time and money. Alternatively, you could even go for M.2 SSD or boot from USB 3 if your SBC supports that.

1: AI is hallucinating events, historical figures, entire concepts on Wikipedia

2: a task force of Wikipedia editors is detecting and deleting this stuff

in reply to Jason Koebler

Wikipedia is perhaps the greatest cross cultural cooperative collaboration in the history of humankind and it is getting fucked up with AI and is taxing the volunteer editors who are already spread thin with bullshit like this:

I shouldnt have used the word “hallucinating” in the initial post - ppl using AI are fucking up wiki with fake stuff they generated with AI or they are maybe earnestly trying to contribute but are using AI which is getting stuff wrong but I didn’t have enough characters to explain all that. AFAIK AI agents aren’t automatically contributing to Wikipedia at this juncture. But if they are pls let us know
in reply to Jason Koebler

Oh that’s fun: destroy our habitat and drink all our water to spew bullshit that humans then have to clean-up.

Capitalism, you’re doing amazing, sweetie!

Learning to use this mechanical grading machine today(!) It shifts the pattern precisely enabling improved pattern tracing as we draw out the shape for each size created - the outlines you see visible on the paper are for the new sizes derived in this way. #sewing #handmade #apparel
