I have dubbed it "Red Dwarf".

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán pushes for backdoors into citizen's private communication. This proposal puts people's privacy and national security at risk. Fortunately, there is a blocking minority against Chat Control in the Council. For now. edri.org/our-work/dutch-decisi…

New nox release! (2024.10.09) Bigger stuff is planned, but this one has full 3.13 support, support for uv-installed Pythons, tags for parameterized sessions, and a new `.install_and_run_script` method for easier PEP 723 script wrapping! #python #release

I love this take:

"Don't you find it infuriating when lawyers and accountants fail to clarify how their respective domains work, making them unavoidable intermediaries of systems that in theory you should be able to navigate by yourself?

Whenever we fail to make simple things easy in software engineering, and webdev especially, we are failing society in the exact same way."

AOC vs Mark Cuban: fight.

Couple things here: It’s the DOJ, not Lina Khan’s FTC, that is currently pursuing a breakup of Google and in the middle of a giant Apple antitrust case, so it’s not even clear Cuban has pointed his ire at the correct target with this comment. And what a wild political re-alignment when AOC and JD Vance agree that Khan is doing a good job!

Swedish activist Greta Thunberg criticised Germany’s “silencing” and “threatening” of pro-Palestine activists in a video message she shared on Wednesday.

This comes after a solidarity encampment in Dortmund where Thunberg was invited to speak was shut down by German police.

"Germany is threatening and silencing activists who speak out against the genocide and occupation," she said.

We tell anorexics that they're not actually fat and they need to learn to accept who they actually are but for people pretending to be to the other sex we confirm the delusion. Why is that?

Whelp, .io TLD lovers, your time may be up (eventually). Or not.

There’s a chance this ccTLD (country code) might get retired because the UK gave up control of a set of islands in the Indian Ocean to Mauritius, an island country.

According to the way ccTLDs work, the current process means that TLD should be retired. Because the country .io was named after doesn’t exist anymore.

There’s also a chance this rule gets bent and the TLD is allowed to live on.

Weird. computerworld.com/article/3552…

Nope. I outsource everything.

I'll run my own email server. I won't run my own Mastodon.
