While it already passes plugin checks, I still consider it a first pancake. Nevertheless, I thought I'd put this version out there for folks to try out.

That's fair. But there's two very interesting things about @libravatar:
1. You can self host your own Libravatar service.
2. Depending on the implementation, Libravatar acts as a proxy for Gravatar profile images.
This means that anyone who has a Gravatar profile (technically) already has a Libravatar. Swapping one service for the other should be seamless.
