September 2024 was 1.54°C above the pre-industrial level globally, the second highest ever recorded (2023 was the highest). Note the graph shows year to date running average not individual months' records, which is a bit confusing.
September kept 2024 on track to be the warmest year on record, with the global average temperature anomaly for January-September 2024 0.71°C above the 1991-2020 average, which is 0.19°C warmer than the same period in 2023.

Decided to read some @mwl fiction this vacation. Both "$ git commit murder" and "$ git sync murder" did very nicely to get my mind off work while at the beach. Compared to something like Paul Auster's post-modern crime novels, the events feel almost relatable/believable. I wouldn't mind following a column detailing Dale's future hacking tales, be it on the BSD or exploitation front.
The real surprise however was discovering "Bedazzled by Blockchain". Somehow this one slipped under my radar and turned out to be written in a smoother/raunchier tone than "Savaged by systemd". If a third part is meant to happen, I'd throw "Gobbled up by GenAI" into the ring :)
