Last Week in Fediverse - ep 90

The botsin.space Mastodon server shutting down is sad news, it's a pretty important server and if you didn't like bots it was handy that you could just block one server and block loads of them at once.

:fedora: Upgrade from Fedora 40 to 41, performed smoothly 😊

Trying to set up the auto completions for docker cli plugins… definitely not the easiest thing to do

#docker #container #dev

how do people code without proper syntax highlighting? if an editor does not highlight custom types, functions, variable names and only highlights keywords, comments, string literals etc then it just looks like it's broken to me

and unfortunately GtkSourceView does not support full syntax highlighting so any code editor using it is kind of unusable for me...

#Python Pop Quiz 🐍❓

What is the output of this crazy code?

A) [[0, 0, 0], [0, 0, 0], [0, 0, 0]]
B) [['python', 0, 0], ['python', 0, 0], ['python', 0, 0]]
C) [[0, 'python', 0], [0, 'python', 0], [0, 'python', 0]]
D) What the heck!?

This release contains no new features, but changes some of the fundamentals of the data model to behave more reliably. It should be much more stable.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the Fediverse’s trust and safety community to interactively guide the development of modular tooling that we hope will not only benefit Bonfire communities but can benefit the ecosystem at large, through modular adoption of the tooling, Fediverse Enhancement Proposals, or other platforms incorporating the same evidence-based prosocial approaches to empowering community managers and moderators.

We urge all IFTAS Connect moderator members to join us in the Moderator Tooling Workgroup and tell us all the tools, features and functions you want to see added to keep you and your community safe!

Feeling terrible because you missed your #deadline to #register or request your #ballot?

You can still MAKE A DIFFERENCE by reaching out to at least two friends or family members, either abroad or stateside, and telling them how important this election is!

Talk to them and make sure they VOTE!

Then you'll feel better, knowing you helped ensure a victory for #HarrisWalz2024 and to #FflipTheHouseBlue and #KeepTheSenate!
