The @osi released the #OpenSource #AI definition this week, and stopped short of requiring that #datasets used for training AI models also be openly available.
Side-stepping that debate, I dig into the onus the OSI's decision now places on having better #DatasetDocumentation approaches - without which the data used for training cannot be adequately described.

All of the palm trees seen in cities are non-native cultivars. There's only a handful of sites where W. fullifera survive. This grove is near the Arizona / Calif border in the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge. Sadly, I didn't have time to climb up into the canyon where the palms are. I had to make haste to get to the Grand Canyon to photograph the comet!

Once again a journalist has withheld potentially vital information -- for years in this case -- in order to make money later on. It's all just business, no conscience required.
I followed the great reporting from Julie Brown of the Miami Herald.
What struck me was all the fixers who helped cover up the story.
PR & legal fixers used the rules of journalism to keep stories about their clients quiet. They used the rights of the victims to protect the predators.
But some victims kept going through the intimidation, pay offs & failure of the justice system.
