Friends, what #email client are you running on #Linux these days?

I've been running #Thunderbird since... the beginning?

The last few weeks I've tried a few other clients. #Evolution is decent but the GUI is stuck in the past, rough edges, clunky.

#Geary is ok. More modern but a little simplistic and I can't seem to find a way to disable threading (do not like). Graphically slow as well it seems.

What graphical client are you using that you like? What is it that you like about it?

Boost?

Crazy weather in Mediterranean Spain. I had decided to spend the couple weeks seeing the southwest coast, haven't had much more than annoying quantities of drizzle.

An animation from EUMETSAT’s satellite "Meteosat Third Generation – Imager 1" showing how the storm takes Mediterranean humidity and just dumps it out onto the land, with the same spots just getting more and more rain.

The animation is from 0 UTC Oct 29 to 10:00 UTC Oct 30th.

Koh Kong Cambodia. Wonderful place. Too bad so far away for us. Took 11 hours getting there. Then three days of beach. Waterfalls. Eating and drinking. If you visit it's worth going.

The Arizona AG is investigating Trump’s “guns trained on her face” comment about Liz Cheney as a death threat.

His violent and demeaning rhetoric implicitly gave some PA citizens permission to have a Halloween parade entry with a woman dressed like Kamala Harris “shackled.”

Violent rhetoric is a virus.

"A man is scratched while asleep in bed with four dogs and he concludes it was an invisible demon" isn't just unparsimonious, it's like something Carl Sagan would use as an example of how Occam's razor is important theguardian.com/us-news/2024/n…

It was a fantastic evening for a walk. I was almost crying at the beauty.

Funny you say that while linking to The Atlantic. Their editor was a prison guard during the first Intifada. Considering that is an actual fascist concentration camp guard with editorial power over the outlet, but Substack exercises no editorial control over the content hosted on it, I'd say you should not be browbeating anyone like this.

@(´ー`)y-~~ Oh, that’s a good one, I didn’t know, thanks!

I’m not particularly attached to the Atlantic, and they aren’t the only outlet to have covered the Nazi problem at Substack.

The Verge also has an article about it, but maybe their janitor’s dad was on the wrong side of the Falkland War?

Ed Zitron also talks about it too, but you’re going to tell me he once lied to someone even though he claims he doesn’t?

What’s your exact point, man? I’m a nobody, and Substack’s Nazi problem is established enough to warrant my original comment to an organization dedicated to information transparency from pretty much anyone.

Someone Else's Empire: British Illusions and American Hegemony by Tom Stevenson, 2023

Someone’s Else’s Empire coolly reassesses Britain’s relationship with the United States. Elite descriptions of Britain’s position in the world (‘punching above our weight’) are untenable, Tom Stevenson argues. Yet there is a refusal, in most parts of society, to examine the assumptions behind them.
