I also am thinking about a backup solution. Right now, I really have none except a small subset of my data which I backup to a (dutch) cloud provider. But I really would like some backups of my proxmox vm's and ct's and a more extensive backup of my data. Preferably (semi) local.
I had to sell the old qnap for some budget on this build so I can't use that any more.
Maybe buy a small cheap (second hand?) synology or something and use that? Any thoughts?
I'm fully aware that the WiFi will be slower than normal until the excellent devs bring the ax200 drivers up to par. I'm also aware the running DRM stuff will be an issue but as I don't watch Netflix etc on my laptop it becomes a non issue. So I'm going to think carefully about this before I commit to removing #Linux in favour of a #BSD .
If I do decide to go for it, it'll be this afternoons little project to stress me out.
So you have a few hours in which to tell me about your experiences of switching from Linux to FreeBSD. Or maybe just tell me about some handy tips or even reasons why you'd think I'd regret the move ?
I mean I'm already running a FreeBSD server at home with jails so have some experience.

Hanno Hauenstein on X summarised about a coming German parliamentary resolution titled «Never again is now: Protecting, preserving and strengthening Jewish life in Germany»
“Germany is pushing a parliamentary resolution linking residency guarantees, asylum and public funding for arts and science to a loyalty oath to a state currently facing genocide charges at the International Court of Justice. This deserves international attention.”

> "The “growth mindset” is Microsoft’s cult — a vaguely-defined, scientifically-questionable, abusively-wielded workplace culture monstrosity, peddled by a Chief Executive obsessed with framing himself as a messianic figure with divine knowledge of how businesses should work."
What does the far right look like in the UK?
Well, one clear answer is it takes the form of Tommy Robinson (Stephen Yaxley to his mum) & his increasing hold over the far right via social media.
he's a dangerous thug but prison (while a necessary response) looks unlikely to have any real negative effect on his public profile or actions.
So, in a democracy, what can you do about people like this?
@hopenothate This has just passed its centenary:
“Credulity is a greater evil in the present day than it ever was before, because, owing to the growth of education, it is much easier than it used to be to spread misinformation, and, owing to democracy, the spread of misinformation is more important than in former times to the holders of power.”
although I think he’d have a few new tart comments about propaganda and media amplification.
