"The 2.6-gigawatt (GW) project is located 27 miles off the coast of #Virginia Beach and is the US’s largest offshore wind farm under construction.
When complete, CVOW will feature 176 turbines generating enough clean energy to power up to 660,000 homes. Dominion Energy expects the project to save customers $3 billion in fuel costs over the first decade of operation. Construction is on track and on budget, with a projected completion date in late 2026."
In the first decade of this #OffshoreWind park's operation, its 660,000 customers will save about $500 a year on their electricity bill compared to today. This is how life is #BetterWithoutFossilFuels
When' it's finished imma take a trip to Virginia Beach to take a look! I hope there will be boat tours.

If, right now, I could be granted one wish... it would be this:
When (if?) Trump loses the US Presidential election, he concedes magnanimously & offers Harris congratulations, before retiring to Mar Lago to play golf with his buddies....
[a wish prompted by the wide spread commentary in the press on what *will* happen when/if he loses]

in reply to Egon Willigh☮gen 🟥 • • •@egonw agreed, there's no reason ORCID isn't just templated in the backend other than someone decided they wanted to use high tech new javascript.
i did a _lot_ of work to download/standardize ORCID in github.com/cthoyt/orcid_downlo…, maybe I can also demonstrate having a simple web app on top of this

in reply to Egon Willigh☮gen 🟥 • • •@cthoyt or maybe the #ORCID should just include a snippet of schema.org that #Mastodon could use for verification. This should not be that hard. life scientists are, after all, doing this routinely (ht @elixir_europe)
but I am very disappointed that important #openInfrastructure like #ORCID cannot be more reactive to things like this. rel="me" is a very useful community standard and it should have been able to come up with some solution to solve this
