Republicans might repeal, no wait, “streamline” the CHIPS Act.

When asked if his party will try to repeal the bipartisan act, which Presidential candidate Donald Trump recently told Joe Rogan is “so bad,” House Speaker Mike Johnson said he expects the GOP “probably will,” writes The Associated Press.

> Johnson made the initial comment while campaigning for a vulnerable New York GOP congressman in a district that is anticipating a large new Micron semiconductor manufacturing plant.

He reportedly quickly said he’d rather “streamline” the act, which has poured billions of dollars into spurring semiconductor manufacturing in the US.

I would like to use Bluesky. They've done a bunch of seriously interesting technical work on moderation and ranking that I truly admire, and I've got lots of friends there who really enjoy it.

Worth remembering (and I think this was his point) that Facebook and Twitter also once did a huge amount of groundbreaking work relating to moderation and preventing the spread of disinformation.

Well bugger. The protest that goes undescribed was her holding up a sign saying “Trump is a cunt”.

US voters - vote Harris in her memory please.

"eniko why won't your studio support mac anymore"

well, this might have something to do with it: hackaday.com/2024/11/01/apple-…

"Now it would seem that to distribute MacOS software you need to have an Apple Developer Program membership, costing $99/year."

if anything apple should be paying *me* $99 a year to put up with their bullshit. i'm not locking myself into development-as-a-service where every year i have to dish out $99 to even be allowed to make programs for mac and then every 4 years also have to buy an entirely new overpriced piece of trash laptop because apple arbitrarily decided the latest version of macos won't run on older macbooks

Russia has just been bleeding Ukraine and NATO the whole time i thought

The need for #Python virtual environments is a symptom of the fundamentally broken package management system. Choosing Python for anything bigger than a toy project is a huge mistake.

Oh no, the Russian bots and trolls have gotten to the NYT, too. Now they’re just parroting Kremlin talking points.
