Michigan driver accused of trying to run over Harris supporters charged with assault, ethnic intimidation - CBS Detroit cbsnews.com/detroit/news/drive…
in reply to dogzilla

I am convinced that those raised hood trucks were marketed to men with fantasies about running down protestors with their assault vehicles.

Britain loves its beach huts. I must have seen thousands on my recent trip to Kent. They are a direct descendant of the bathing machines of Georgian and Victoriam times, and the changing tents of the Edwardian era. Their heyday was probably the post-war holiday boom of the 1950s, but they remain improbably popular and, in the right location, can change hands for eye-watering sums.

sounds like lots of priviledges if you are part of the club. If own a passport from a Balkan country, which is in an European area btw, you get bullied at borders and airports based on stereotypes.

Local Mississippi election officials changed at least 54 precincts across 24 counties between the March 2024 primaries and October 2024 ahead of the Nov. 5, 2024, election. But not all of those changes are reflected in the Statewide Election Management System, the database from which the online polling place locator tool draws its information. Story written in partnership with @pulitzercenter.

Does anyone know if @readthedocs is working towards supporting PEP-0735 dependency groups?

I'm still using `extra_requirements` (c.f., docs.readthedocs.io/en/stable/…) but want to switch over for my documentation requirements!

Annoying thing with #flatpak apps is that their temporary files go to `$XDG_RUNTIME_DIR`, which is a ramdisk created by systemd. Ramdisk created with very limited size, causing for example #Signal to fill it, or things to quite comically fail when #calibre tries to transfer a larger book to your device. And I haven't yet found a way to adjust the size of this ramdisk, and only an ugly hack to work around this.

People seem to use the #Python tag to complain. As they have forever they complain about whitespace. They call Python a toy language only fit for toy projects. They say it is slow. If whitespace is stopping you from even looking, you are small minded. Python is definitely not a toy language and if you think it’s only fit for toy programs then a) you haven’t tried types; and b) you don’t know how to build big programs and would have trouble in any language.

And if you think #Python is slow then you’re not paying attention; you don’t know your algorithms; and you don’t know how to program.

The people who make these comments are ignorant, biased, and angry.

⚡ I wrote a little thing to show how to speed up CI using uv.

You can save about 20s on pre-commit linting and about 40s on a test matrix:
