I’m curious: _did_ the Ukrainians destroy 10.000 Russian soldiers, 100 planes, and 300 tanks quickly? I remember being surprised (and delighted) by the Ukrainian resilience early on, but I have no idea what the actual numbers were.
in reply to geo21481

I was also wondering but I think Sikorsky didn’t mean these numbers to be taken literally - it was about delivering evidence of fierce resistance quickly. Which Ukrainian army delivered in excess, with hundreds of photos of destroyed and burning Russian columns, in which the latter have also helped a lot by rather brainless command.

This photo was published in every single media out there, I just took the first copy I found online.

Its a photo of a US artillery firing range practice, from 2001 - I was in the media core and took this photo.

The photo was picked up by every clandestine NGO to sell different humanitarian aids ever since.

Look it up!

@FourOh-LLC

Sorry, but this is nonsense. This street was in Bucha with Russian wrecked vehicles was famous and featured in many photos and videos, e.g. here:

Of course it is, I was lying about the photo. But you get the point I hope, nobody is able to "verify" anything whatever BBC claims about a bunch of destroyed military gear.

During operation Barbarossa the Nazis inflicted damages that would have collapsed any other defending army. Since the French invasion by Napoleon it is well known how the was Russian plains and the weather is part of all Russian military operations. As recently as in Desert Storm it was re-confirmed that any supply chain extending over 300 - 500 miles is in danger of collapsing, which is part of all Russian military operations.

I do not need to see photos to know the chances of Ukraine against Russia. Some photos of destroyed military assets have little or no effect on the strategy Russia has been using for centuries to conduct warfare on or near their Motherland.

in reply to FourOh-LLC

@FourOh-LLC

But this time it’s Russia who is invading, not defending. Whatever geographic or climatic obstacles the French or Germans faced during their invasions, Putin is now facing himself.

@geo21481

Ukraine is slightly smaller than the state of Texas, with a total area of 233,062 square miles (603,628 square kilometers).

Its within a few hops for a 400 miles supply chain.

in reply to kravietz 🦇

And by the way, did you hear and read Trump calling the Cheney's warmongering monsters? Did you read and hear Putin preferring Harris to win the POTUS race?

Now, that's real news you can trust - if you can read and you learned to listen.

The games of Cal Michael are a demanding „Gesamtkunstwerk“ – even if you approach them with good will and an open mind, they might largely escape you in the end – but are certainly worth a look. If you manage it to penetrate them, they reward you with a dive into a mystical, enthralling, and unique other-world.

There appears to be a major loophole on the path to be elected 🇨🇦 Prime Minister.

If a candidate runs in a federal election without holding top-level security clearance, that clearance will be awarded automatically - with no vetting- should they win the PM seat.

Until now, no politician running for PM has considered doing so without holding a top-secret security clearance. Likely never crossed their mind..

Except Conservative leader, Pierre #Poilievre.

in reply to GG

Yes this is definitely the situation.
How could non-conservatives possibly press his cult into demanding he go through security clearance vetting?
The only way he's going to do it is if his base demands it.

FWIW: Medicare is currently treating trans care as medically necessary. I had to get letters from therapists, but that's the WPATH standard of care. Took ~3 months from initial discussion to completion of my surgery.

Of course that could change at any moment. Especially if the 🍊💩 wins on Tuesday.

The skyscrapers along Park Avenue in the 40's and lower 50's are all minor engineering marvels. They're built atop the rail yard for Grand Central Terminal (an early adopter of the modern real estate concept of "air rights"). Many of the newer buildings are much taller than was anticipated when the terminal was constructed more than a century ago. This heavily constrains their foundations and anchor points, leading to unusual load-bearing designs such as the steelwork shown in the photo.
