You’ve seen Piers Morgan interview Mehdi plenty of times over the past year. This week, Mehdi and Morgan flipped roles for the first time, with our editor-in-chief sitting down for an exclusive interview with the controversial British broadcaster in New York.
Their discussion starts with Mehdi offering a twist on a classic Morgan question: “Do you condemn Benjamin Netanyahu's terrorism against the children of Gaza?”

Suspected Israeli naval commandos infiltrated Lebanese territory by sea on Friday, kidnapping a man near his home.
Lebanese transport minister Ali Hamie confirmed the incident on Saturday and said security bodies are continuing their investigations.
Hamie told local media that the man, a captain of civilian and commercial ships and a student at a naval institute, was seized against his will approximately 100m from his home.

Thousands of people on Saturday held a rally in the British capital to protest Israeli genocide and demand a total halt of arms shipment to Israel.
A large crowd first staged a die-in protest outside Downing Street, where the Prime Minister's Office is located, to commemorate more than 42,000 Palestinians who have been killed by Israel since October last year.
Later, the protesters started the march from Whitehall to the US Embassy.

Why You Should Be Using Aliases in the #Linux Terminal
The humble alias is a powerful ally when it comes to using the Linux #terminal, but it’s one you could probably stand to rely on more. Let’s take a look at a few of the ways aliases can make your life easier when it comes to getting around the terminal.
What's your preferred alternative to #SQLAlchemy? Looking for something more lightweight and less complex.
I don't necessarily need an #ORM, I certainly don't need cross-DBMS abstraction.
In fact, all I basically need is a nice interface to #SQLite. If it comes with some kind of ORM, that's nice. Way more important would be if it helps me deal with migrations. The less I have to think about capturing / applying schema changes, the better.
Suggestions? What did you enjoy working with?
If you have a friend who is considering switching from Windows to Linux, this article might be a good start for them. Glad to see Bluefin and Bazzite facilitating someone's move to Linux!

I’m really trying to like Coolify; ideally I’d like to remove all my static sites off of PaaSes like Vercel, Netlify, or whatever but for Chrissakes it is difficult to do.
I’ll keep digging into the docs though.
🚀 Today, I split my 5-node Proxmox cluster into two separate clusters, each with two nodes and a quorum device – plus created a standalone node! 🎉
📌 “ruhr” Cluster: Hosts all publicly accessible services 🌐
📌 “local” Cluster: Dedicated to internal-only services 🛠️
In addition, there’s now a standalone development server for testing and development 🧪💻

🎨✨ We introduce a novel anisotropic specular image-based lighting method that serves as a drop-in replacement for the standard bent normal technique. This approach renders materials like brushed stainless steel and fur more realistically.
We derive an analytic formula for determining the major axis of the specular microfacet BRDF and place the environment samples along it, similar to anisotropic texture filtering.
