Let's remember that Sinead Boucher is the sole owner of most of the daily newspapers in Aotearoa. She has the final say on who their editors are. Her company owns #Stuff.co.nz the digital platform that gives them a homepage on the web, as well as #Neighbourly.
That's a lot of influence for one who thinks being against public spending is *not* an ideological position;

CLOUT. A blow. I'll give you a clout on your jolly nob; I'll give you a blow on your head. It also means a handkerchief. CANT. Any pocket handkerchief except a silk one.

Angry Staffer says
"Basically, pollsters are terrified of being wrong again, so they’re flat-out ignoring “very blue” results.
As a result, pollsters are more willing to take steps to produce more Republican-leaning results.
They’re intentionally watering down the aggregate and making this race look deadlocked across the board. It’s crazy.
And it’s going to feed into Trump’s rigged election claims if Harris wins in a landslide"
#Polling sucks
Coupled with the fact that those (majority of) shitty, wrong, eff'd up polls then become interpreted by media who has no business pretending to understand methodologies or how polls work, and there is literally ZERO reason to trust polls, or give cred to media that does.
...it's (practically) allll just a bunch of garbage being used for propaganda.
To anyone trying to play the #MonsterHunter wilds beta on #linux.
1. Use #proton experimental, turn on the beta "bleeding edge"
2. Force DLSS on (if nvidia), disable all upscaling if not
3. Turn surface detail to Low (bypasses a vertex generation bug with the surface detail shader, if left on high it causes terrain to go haywire) Note: this can only be done from the main menu
4. Turn texture filtering down to 8x or 4x (16x is bugged)
And enjoy! I'm getting a smooth 70fps on all ultra settings

NOTICE:
THIS ACCOUNT WILL BECOME STRICTLY NON-POLITICAL AGAIN AT 6:00 PM EST, NOVEMBER 5.
This account was always intended to avoid talking about modern-day politics and generally speaking current events, except as #satire. The only reason I'm talking about politics so much on it is because the election is so close, and this one is so incredibly important to all #queer and other #marginalized people, #writers, and all #Americans in general.
I strongly encourage everyone to vote for Kamala Harris, not simply as a queer writer, but as an #American who believes in #democracy.
That said, as we won't know the results in any of the many close states until days after the election, and there won't be anything left to do once polls close, I do not engage with politics AT ALL after a certain time on election day.
Instead, I plan to go on an #erotica / #shitpost #writing binge once I'm done with politics. (Though my support group in #Resonite is at 9 PM, so maybe I'll hang out there?)
Now that #Hezbollah's pagers and walkie-talkies have exploded, the crucial question is how can secure communication be maintained today?

Including the company Boucher now owns. Which owns rateable property in Wellington and elsewhere. Just keep that in mind when you're taking in reporting about real estate and council business, in Stuff-edited papers, podcasts, or TV3 news.

Three words. Restore. Public. Spending. By both central and local government. To what they were spending - per capita - in 1992, when the Absolutely Positively Wellington tourism slogan was launched.

in reply to Strypey • • •In 1992, the ACTonomics knife crimes had only just begun. Since then they've have cut billions out of public funding for services and infrastructure. That why almost everyone feels broke and desperate, rather than "Absolutely Positively".
