Director of Kamal Adwan Hospital Hussam Abu Safia:
The attack that the hospital is currently being subjected to has not been witnessed for 70 days.
We hold the world responsible for its silence regarding the genocide that is happening to the hospital.
Sniper fire penetrated the walls and hit what remained of the medical equipment.
Medical equipment was destroyed after being shot by #Israeli vehicles.

For my first ever job in 1994, during my interview (for an AI job no less), I was asked what I thought of the (then new) internet. I replied that it was just a fad. My boss (and later my fiance...) laughed at me. He was right.
I'm not doing the same mistake now with AI. Everyone who thinks it's a fad, they'll see the world transform before their eyes in the next 2-3 years. For better or worse.

"New data from WHO and partners published this year showed a 71% increase in deaths from cholera in 2023 and a 20% increase in measles cases, while the number of adults living with diabetes has quadrupled since 1990, and has now passed 800 million."

(did we even have #YearOfTheLinuxDesktop yet? either way, it's #foss, and that's what matters.)
Yesterday at a doctor appointment for my son, the doctor asked if she could use AI to generate a summary of the appointment. I was torn.
On one hand, this could be one of the good examples of AI doing labor that people shouldn't spend so much time on. I can imagine that summarizing notes is important, but takes a long time at the end of a doctor's day. This could help with accuracy. It could allow the doctor to be mire productive, if that is a goal.
But I'm not a doctor. @mcnado , @hannu_ikonen know better than I do, and I am curious about their and other MD's opinions.
Instead of saying that we are living in "late stage capitalism," what is something positive we could we say we are living in the early, or pre, stages of?
I'm tired of critiquing the current failed system & dreaming of what will replace it.
Positive answers only please. Snark and humor not welcomed in response to this post.
