The combo of zero income tax and taxing capital / property would be fair.

It's difficult to solve. The ones who have so much won't easily let that go, even if it means they will still have access to everything everyone has a right to. I would like a world in which money and bartering are outlawed, and that is based on basics for all, and extras if people contribute to society. These extras should never result in privileges or accumulation of wealth.

@pascaline @kaffando I wonder how we could implement something like that and how veto would be imposed/ rights to veto would be shared. Arguably the principle of land tax and developmental regulation could be said to create sooomethig of that - but the laws as presently drawn privilege property rights, rather than property responsibilities.

(At least where I live in Texas the property tax is quite high compared to much of the US - in an inversion of what people might expect, we tax property/ capital, not income, in this state, to support shared infrastructure - though an uncorrected pitfall of that means lower property tax revenues in poorer areas create less school and hospital support, so it can’t be said to be particularly great - but I think it could be improved with a combo system of zero income tax on incomes below median and tax on incomes above.)

Yes, so many saw this, but greed, economy, growth, the works.
Sometimes I think they're the clever ones & have it right; there will be fewer people left if any (& the world) survive, they will have it all, safe and snug in their domes & bunkers, with the land they bought in, for instance, New Zealand. It's a bloody shame to BUY land. Land should never be sold, only rented, and rent should go to the people directly, who would have the power to veto it all.

@pascaline @kaffando I called it years ago, the whole cloud-castle boom including blockchain and AI has been solely to prop up the fossil fuel industry until its current barons are dead (after which time the impacts no longer matter.)

The data center folks would like you to conserve, because it keeps *their* costs down. But the fossil interests want to quintuple demand every year so exploding renewables won’t suffice. Only urgent legislation solves this without literal Luddism.
