WhatsApp could fling digital confetti around soon.

Just in time for New Year’s Eve celebrations, sending certain emoji in the iOS beta version of the app triggers a confetti animation, according to WABetaInfo.

The outlet spotted the feature being tested in the Android beta version of WhatsApp in November, too.

if your goal is a house on the hill and a book deal and an HBO mini series — the honest truth is that the best advice for new creators in 2024 isn’t “create great content” or “show up.”

It’s “be famous for something else first.”

And if that sounds depressing… well, welcome to the attention economy.

Amen to that.

I totally identify with everything you say in this piece. I never saw metrics for Disintermedia until I reestablished my lemonade stand on SubStack. I only see metrics from there because it shoves them in my face, and I haven't figured out how to turn them off.

"Artists who are recruited to make new pink slime are given reference links to existing pink slime and ordered to replicate it as closely as possible. The tracks produced this way that do the best are then fed to the next group of musicians to replicate, and so on."

Frankenstein's music *shudder*.

I guess this is all being done by a generative algorithm now? Or as I prefer to call it, a Trained #MOLE : )
