Hi there, @Mastodon! I got this warning about mass follow and I think there is something wrong.

See, I imported here on this profile the .csv file of the accounts I follow in a previous profile that carries my real name.

I have done this because I have noticed that by using an account that does not carry my real name I feel more comfortable interacting with people.

When I clicked on the appeal link I also got an error message.

Am I doing something wrong / against the rules?

Today I had my first ever pangolin sighting. It was a tiny one, probably a youngster. We walked with it to make sure it got safely where it was headed and away from the road. It’s taken 8½ years of hiking in Taiwan to have this neat experience. I feel so lucky!

♿ Well, that was quick. I was in Target, and the Men's Dept aisles aren't wide enough for an ability scooter. So, Fuck Target!

Mellie is going to be 10 on December 25rh, so she is going to get a special cake and a stuffed animal.

She is getting old, but still active like a puppy but for much shorter periods. She has developed a funny habit, Evey now and then She just wakes up from a nap and runs to the balcony and barks like something was there, then comes and stares at me demanding to be rewarded.

This is the one reason I've been hesitant to have a dog for so many years, losing them is just really hard for me.

But I'm enjoying every moment of her company catching up with the years ww lost while she was in US with my wife and kids.

Yep, turns out that #Honey browser extension for shopping coupons was a scam for both consumers *and* influencers who promoted it.

TL;DW: Honey allows ‘partners’ to prevent better coupons from appearing at checkout. For affiliate marketers (like YouTubers), Honey snipes their commission codes from the URL at checkout and steals the commission.

Side note: #NordVPN’s affiliate program offers a 40% commission. Does that seem oddly high for a commission? Sounds high.

24 years ago, on this date, Obama signed the repeal of the Don't Ask, Don't Tell.

Can't believe I have a Christmas tree in my place again. Managed to be without one for years.

But Mellie seems to like it.

Anyone has first-hand experience with this technology, or actually using this?

The Activism Trap: A Critical Analysis of the Social Media Federalization Interpellation

Is the fediverse actually ready for government adoption? And how to promote it as a politician?
in reply to Kierunkowy74

It turns out that "critical" here means argumentative, entirely one-sided, and full of spurious objections.
in reply to kbal

I started reading, and it seems to criticize some Polish proposal, rather than anything substantial?

Like, paraphrasing, "the proposal says it worked well in context A, but that doesn't mean it'll work well in context B". I mean, sure, whatever. But not very juicy.

Maybe there's good points in there, but if they had valid criticism they should have spilled the beans right away. If not I'll keep thinking ensuring digital sovreignity and embracing open web standards are good things.

in reply to aasatru

A petition to the polish government is hardly insubstantial. Just like how the small municipality working on fedi proves to the national government that it can switch, other countries will follow.
in reply to flavia

I meant that this "critical analysis" didn't seem to offer any substantial critiques of ActivityPub or its use, but merely a bunch of critiques of this petition itself on points that seem not extremely relevant.

It might be interesting for people who are invested in this specific debate, but I outside of that context it doesn't seem to have all that much to add to anything.

Not saying the petition is unsubstantial, I just struggled to find any substance to this critique of it.

in reply to Kierunkowy74

This reads like AI slop, the illustrations certainly don't help. Why are you using debate terms?? None of the claims here are exemplified or argued in any way, ironically given its "criticisms".
in reply to flavia

In fairness it does appear to be a literal AI translation from Polish, hence the opaque word "interpellation" in the title.
in reply to flavia

AI generally writes much better than this. This reads like someone trying to turn half a page of content into a ten page term paper using nothing but a thesaurus and charts. And who hasnt had tried to do that at least once in their life.
