Trump appointees point to a deregulated industry, tech players say tucsonsentinel.com/nationworld…
President-elect Donald Trump’s recent appointments and cabinet nominees are pointing to a four-year stint of deregulation in the tech industry, and lots of potential for competitive growth within the industry and globally.

competitive growth my ass. It'll be monopolistic mergers and acquisitions all the way down.

“Duomo Facade, Orvieto” — The highly detailed facade of the Orvieto Duomo.

It seems like almost every Italian town has its duomo, or cathedral. All that I’ve seen are impressive, but some have especially notable features. This one is in Orvieto, a lovely hill town in Umbria. Oddly, even through we were dropped off very near this cathedral when we arrived, it wasn’t until later that we finally took the time to visit it. The inside is very interesting, but it seems to me that the ornate work on the exterior is the most impressive…continues: gdanmitchell.com/2024/12/22/du…

i really want to love @jellyfin but every time i look at it sideways it corrupts its sqlite db and falls over

i'm so tired of doing surgery on it and then checking to see if they have support for a real database yet #homelab

in reply to 🎄ct 🎁

what OS are you running it on and what installation method did you use? It's really not common to have that problem
in reply to Jellyfin

I’ve had this issue too and it was because I was mounting the configs including the db off a nfs share. I think I resolved it by moving to to the local machine where jellyfin runs via docket however it’s not ideal as it’s easier to backup the configs/dbs for all my #homelab instead of the server’s disks. I do hope #jellyfin moves to a proper db down the line that can be hosted elsewhere.

Hello #linux desktop #GarudaLinux and byebye #windows11.
I realize this may be really old stuff for linux desktop users but i never used #FishShell before and i got instantly hooked by its abbreviation feature, besides it's also nice to see the branch im currently in.

I'm using it for only a few days now but it already does everything i use on a daily basis, i did not expect it to run this smoothly.

I only got experience with debian/ubuntu and rhel/fedora until now so arch has a lot of new stuff but well, i got time to learn.

@jackc Když se podíváš pozorně, tak zjistíš, že hned před autem už je hrana chodníku. Takže jsem to musel zaparkovat takhle blízko domu. 🙂

I made this little #handmade #notebook from paper offcuts and a placemat.
The pages aren't bound together; they are held in place by elastic strings, so it's possible to take out pages or put them in.
There's a little hook-and-loop tape closure.
I haven't tried using it before, but I like it.
Most of the stitches are decorative, except for the closure.
