With Syria’s civil war over, refugees forced out over a decade ago are eyeing a potential return, but there are many roadblocks. David Miliband of the IRC says Syria’s poverty is a “prototype example” of how conflict can make humanitarian crises harder to manage. #Velshi

I was knitting a hat (baby on the way in the extended family) so I listened to this physicist pondering why billionaires are so fixated on being perceived to be smart and specifically that they could be a physicist.

Physics. Not biology, not chemistry (both things that I personally find much harder, that's why I went into physics) or any other thing.
It has to be physics.

My own guess:
Because every middle schooler knows physics is "hard".

President-elect Donald Trump used a speech to MAGA supporters to push back on claims that billionaire Elon Musk had effectively taken over his presidency.

While speaking to Turning Point USA's AmFest conference attendees on Sunday,
Trump argued that "big companies" wanted him to cut regulations more than slashing taxes.

"You know, the — they're on a new kick, Russia, Russia, Russia, Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine, all the different hoaxes," the president-elect continued.
"The new one is President Trump has ceded the presidency to Elon Musk. No, no, that's not happening. But Elon's done an amazing job."

"But no, he's not going to be president that I can tell you," he insisted. "And I'm safe. You know why? He can't be.

He wasn't born in this country. Ha, ha, ha. But the fake news knows that."

Emperor Trump says he thinks he'll "keep TikTok around for awhile" because he got a lot of "views" during the election.

Translation: TikTok's legality in the US is based on how much the algorithm favors Trump, personally.

I have been hosting my #FOSS projects on github and through my own local syncthing shenanigans. I used to think that would be enough and perhaps it still is a sufficient method of backing things up, however I feel gross about github being a microsoft product.

I have touched on gitlab a bit but every time I visit the site it befuddles me further.

Is there any other trustworthy alternatives to github?
