Yeah but leveraging this would require Californian electeds to have some semblance of a spine

Sometimes I wonder if I purposefully load myself down with stressful projects, just to have an excuse for the alcoholism that relieves the stress.

Like having a demanding job and 2 kids in diapers wasn't enough...

Anyway... my conference is less than two months away and I'm trying to get sponsor $$ for chippewavalleycodecamp.com/

It's a free community event that provides tech education, mentoring, professional networking, and all that hoopla.

If anyone knows of some kind of grant program or anything, I'd be down with that!

Libcom: **Maoism and its relationship with the terrorist cul-de-sac**

When Trump won the election, a bunch of us started warning that it was time to get serious about your disaster prep and seriously consider what you would do if FEMA just... never showed. This is why.

If you live in a blue state, federal disaster aid is far from assured now. And even if you live in a red area, I wouldn't trust that these people will preserve enough of FEMA to offer meaningful help should disaster strike.
in reply to Gwen Snyder is uncivil

No American thinks the government is coming to help. I think that is in part why red area people disapprove of funding these organizations to begin with. We have a trust issue that we will never have room to address.

And by the way, one reason AI gels so well with the fascist agenda is: AI responds to queries by basically spitting out the internet's average story and vibe on the subject Which is to say, it affirms dominant prejudices and biases BY DESIGN

RE: bsky.app/profile/did:plc:di7ep…

They want people to give up on fact and trust vibes. Ideally, they'd like us all to look at reality through the lens of AI, which is basically just a service that averages and reconstitutes vibes on any given subject. Wikipedia helps us order and evaluate based on fact. It is a threat.

And when I say it was by design, I don't even mean "deliberately designed to do evil" so much as "designed by people who assumed their biases were fact and that similarly-biased algorithms were more factual"

I really hope everyone understands what is going on with Elon and Wikipedia. Wikipedia is one of our last remaining bastions of evidence-based consensus reality. The MAGA narrative is fundamentally threatened by evidence-based fact, and Wikipedia is a repository of evidence-based fact.

If you haven't read, I deeply recommend this article. Apparently his beef started when they refused to call him a founder of Tesla. Just because he didn't actually found Tesla. www.citationneeded.news/elon-musk-an...
