[Experience with Matrix?]

Who has personal experience with Matrix and the use of a so-called "bridge" to connect to WhatsApp and Signal?

How long have you been using this solution and why or perhaps no longer? 🤔

Thank you for your participation and possibly sharing the post. 😃👍

in reply to Stefan

Matrix works best when talking natively to Matrix, as talking to other platforms like WA or Signal requires re-encrypting data in the bridge. Beeper solves this by running the bridge in the client; other services run them serverside. In practice, both WA & Signal bridges can run stably and are maintained, and many people use them for convenience, but it's never going to be as good as native Matrix, and not all features (e.g. VoIP calling) work over the bridge.

Since my #ttrpg group voted for another #DnD campaign, I suppose this purchase was inevitable.

What are people's practical experiences with this edition, compared to the previous one?

Even 3 in 10 Republicans opposed sweeping pardons for Jan. 6 rioters — at least before it happened.

It will be interesting to see how public opinion changes when the questions change to, "Do you support the felon's executive order pardoning nearly all of the January 6 terrorists?"

Seeing all the big tech bros standing behind Trump, smiling supportively? Scary, huh?

Maybe you want to host your stuff, like your website, mail or a lot more, at a hoster that not only supports your technical freedom but also has a stable stance on discrimination and antifacism in its house rules: uberspace.de/en/about/houserul…

Welcome to #Uberspace! 🚀

We also have very good docs on how to set up many awesome #OpenSource tools on our platform: lab.uberspace.de/

It's easier than you think!

Python 3.13 currently has a known issue on Windows that prevents users from pasting code snippets containing indentation into the new REPL (github.com/python/cpython/issu…). This bug also affects the "Run in Python Terminal" feature in Visual Studio Code (using the Python extension).

The Python development team is looking for someone with Windows expertise to help test a proposed fix. If you're interested, the PR is available here: github.com/python/cpython/pull…
