It’s pretty incredible to see Pixelfed take off, after a very long period of Daniel valiently promoting the service on Mastodon every day. @richpuchalsky I've used both Xowa and kiwix for offline browsing of #wikipedia . #Kiwix blows #Xowa out of the water for both browsing and searching speed. I have the 109GB 2024 Wikipedia on a #RaspberyPi 5, with an inexpensive, lacklustre-brand SSD as the boot drive/system drive (in a decent, inexpensive SATA-to-USB3 enclosure). The Raspberry Pi doesn't break any sweat with browsing and searching; rather it yawns in boredom. The disk IO is superb.

Thanks #Google for the OTA upgrade intended to improve battery performance.
In fact this destroyed the battery life on my otherwise perfectly serviceable Pixel 4a. I had hoped to use the device for years to come.

It looks as if this was anticipated and there's a webpage to claim a small refund, a fraction of the value of a similar phone.

If it wasn't for this elegant workaround, I don't know what I would do.

My poor Pixel 4a, battery life ruined by an OTA upgrade which purported to improve battery life. My phone lies on top of a large USB battery and is connected to it via a lead. There's a rubber band holding the two together, for convenience and stability. If you look closely at the right hand edge of the frame you can see the shadow of my cat's ears. He looks on the scene with a mixture of exasperation and dismay.

I might need to steal your solution. My Pixel 6P is running super hot and it'll chew through the battery in a matter of hours these days. I have one of those mouse pads with the built in Qi charger and it's just enough to break even most of the time. I think this phone is probably on borrowed time.
